I was just being polite and not interrupting. There are over 10,000 views in just 5 months so the audience is large......now that you know......no pressure lol.....unless we're testing oil pressure.
Following in the book helps my right side thinking brain understand how to set up the testing...
Thanks again for swapping between greasy gloves and snapping photos of the hydromatic surgery. It's a huge contribution to the preservation of the Early Deuce. I try to follow along with the ORD 9 SNL G-749 Service Parts Manual because it has these great pictures. I don't want to distract from...
How long should it take for 1 gallon / 4 liters of anti-freeze to flow out the bottom radiator tank on the G749....under ideal conditions? Draft up that pool and toss your answers below.
We're going to find out. Old Piglet, delivered on June 27, 1952 as number 685, currently takes over 4...
Now we need to see one of these tabs. They're beadlocks. Got the story from one young, experienced mechanic....., at least he was young back in the 70's when he'd throw these away because most of them were broken. He's experienced now and we're so fortunate he knew these tabs helped keep the...
Well look at that. There is nothing wrong with your eyes. The 9-8024 has a photo of them too. In-service, on the book,.....hooks on the wheel thingy. Nothing on or around page 471 so we have an NDT mystery. I didn't look on the frame side of the wheel to see if they're inside as well.
This...
That fella mb is still rockin' but it seems like's he's rollin' at light speed and can't call back until he slows down long enough to eat. He will get back to us.
I read every word on your thread......many I understand. Been crazy with harvest and getting better posts under the green roof...
The custom rad support is compliments of Steel Soldiers so we gotta give up some credit for the green straps.
I read a thread here that someone building an MV was doing some testing and only had the bottom bolts and top rad hose supporting the rad. Until the fenders are on the rad moves...
That's the only thing I wish I worked on more. The starter swivel linkage was a little tight and after pulling it 30 times today, I wish the lube I put on it was better. It should loosen up over time....right?
There it is, Piglet in a barn. Didn't get a "Will it start" video or many pictures...
I can't blame the way the cat acts this time. I tried, but I got this look.
What I didn't do, in the last minutes of daylight, was peak at the book. Instead, I grabbed the CC Reduction Unit Control Rod RUCR and tried to put it on the Transmission Throttle Valve Lever TTVL. I needed to grab...
I stood on that houdalle, had to look it up. Crazy history and market span. https://automotiveamerican.com/2018/09/06/houdaille-hydraulic-suspension-co/
While you're there, I found these round, large wife rings in the transmission kit. Since I know a guy who knows where they go, before I use...
Thanks Ahab.....When the memory starts to go, when the TM's are dust, when the clouds of ash from when I ran, which Is real, creep across the Oceans, we still have the Steel Soldiers database. Not sure we've told them lately how much we appreciate them sticking around. Thanks Steel! It's like...
We learned something flushing the engine / transmission coolaid system.
If you don't have a radiator on, the flush fluid flows out of the lower rad hose before it flows into the transmission.
With the transmission coolaid line being slightly above pump intake, one must plug the lower rad...
If you haven't had the adventure of using an easy out it's like winning the lottery. It's close to the last chance broken bolt removal tool. If you're at the easy out stage, things are bad. https://shop.wurth.ca/cutting/extractor-sets/easy-out-stud-extractor-set/-EASY-OUT--KIT/695.684353/...
That Tesla looking WWII truck is a CMP or Canadian Military Pattern. Lot's of those saved up here already and part of the reason I saved the Deuce instead. So good you made it up to see Lyle. Did he have any magic repair kits around that might help for future seal work?
We got one more...
That bit of history with the plumbing supports 'in-service' history. If Johnny farmer put it in it wouldn't match a few of the trucks that have real similar plumbing. Real good to know.
We threatened that engine with a complete reseal kit. Then we felt for torque on all the bolts. Everything...
