CUCV vibration

Good evening gentlemen. From west Texas.
I'm having a problem with my 1984 CUCV. I was driving down the highway and all of a sudden I started to get a bad vibration in the drivetrain, I check my motor mounts and they checked out good. I disconnected the torque converter, started it and still has the vibration. This vibration is with the vehicle on park or neutral and idle or any RPMs. I think is coming from the motor. I took the water pump plate off to check the chain and the chain seems alright but not to sure. Also when all this started I noticed the injection pump is now leaking and never was before until the vibration. I'm clueless up until this point.

Does your harmonic balancer look ok? They do separate/shift with age.

21. IDLES ROUGH WITHOUT ABNORMAL NOISE OR SMOKE, WILL NOT CLEAR UP
Step 1. Check fuel injector pump timing. (See paragraph 3-44)
Step 2. Test each fuel injector nozzle. (See paragraph 3-36)
Step 3. Remove governor cover. (See paragraph 3-38) Check for black particles.
If black particles are evident, replace governor weight retaining ring. (See
paragraph 3-42)
Step 4. Test fuel injector pump, (See paragraph 3-44)
Step 5. Test compression of each cylinder. (See paragraph 3-2)

Leaking injection pump line(s) would cause a pretty good vibration if leaking enough that the cylinder won't fire.

Not sure what you mean by disconnecting torque converter. Did you unbolt it from flex plate?

Yes, its brand new and replaced exactly a year ago
New does NOT always mean better. Was it replaced just to replace it? Or was it actually bad? If it were bad is it possible that the damage was done at that time? And I do agree with a weak cylinder or misfiring delivery nozzle. Remove the nozzles and have them tested with a pop off tester. May not be the real name but a diesel shop I use checks mine on occasion if I have the engine apart. And like I say if you replace the balancer just to replace it you could be putting an inferior part on the vehicle. Good Luck. Be Safe.

I PUT A NEW GOOD BALANCER ON THE ENGINE AND DIDN'T START HAVING PROBLEMS UNTIL WHEN IT STARTED VIBRATING

Err yes, something starting to vibrate would definitely be when you started noticing a problem. I believe his point is don't automatically write it off because you put something new on so it "can't" be bad. A person can't discount their new parts being bad, or simply failing prematurely. In this day & age where so much is outsourced & corners are cut for maximum profit anything can happen.

This is a human failing that all of us have to deal with. Play it safe & do a careful inspection of it for the sake of being thorough. Doesn't hurt even if it is less likely than a failure elsewhere

As long as you have TC held back, its OK, we know it slides easily on tranny input. Seems like a unconventional diagnostic step though, as cracked flex plate or loose bolts easily seen by visual inspection.

My concern now is pushing the dirt build up that is on the converter center mount back into the front pump seal. Seems to me as it would create a new problem. Far be it for me to suggest that happening. Anytime I must change a flex-plate with the transmission in place I very carefully clean that center shaft area as good as I can. Good Luck.
