Hi Folks,

I’m finalizing a installation of a stereo system in the M998. I have my constant and grounds run, but I’m looking for a place to splice that put out power when the system is on (a running hot).

I’m trying to avoid splicing directly into the ignition switch, anyone know of another wire that I can splice into? Anything with easy access to the doghouse is perfect placement.

Why not use something like this? It and male and female connectors are readily available so you do not need to cut anything.

One of the easiest places to do this would be to use one of the "Y" wiring adapters and connect it in the #27 lead that feeds power to the instrument panel 5 lead spider.

Keep in mind that this will be a switched 24v lead and will only be hot when the ignition switch is in the RUN position. This is a situation where the ACC position on a keyswitch allows the radio to be on when the engine is off.

Been over this before. In the RUN position, other circuits will still be energized like control box, injector pump solenoid, maybe cold advance solenoid (if cold), gauges and heater, wiper, (if on) While not much it is an added drain. If 4L80 transmission add that to.

Not really an accessory circuit for your accessories, CAMO
