"As I totter into antiquity" You poor old man. Someplace is my extra walker. Will send it ASAP.

We did the same thing to many of our trucks, the shackles under the bumper. Very handy. Another trick, to help your old tired butt get up and check the oil. Get one or two tail gate handles. Mount one or both, to the underside of the bumper. About below where you have stenciled 6 A F O. We put one on both sides of the bumper. Sure makes it easy to get up, and more importunity, get safely down. In your tottering old age. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Guy I was thinking along those lines of a front bumper step, so I bought a used folding one like this from a friend late last year. It's complete along with umpteen coats of paint, so I dropped it off at the sandblaster and hope to have it back this weekend.

We have had over 2000 views, and only 77 members have chosen to vote. I think to persuade more members to vote, we need to put out an incentive. How about one of PBs autographed 50 Cal. ammo cans, one of PBs favorite MTech field tools, a couple of PBs favorite Georgia Cigars, and a couple of PBs favorite personalized whiskey glasses. Everyone who votes will have a chance to win this very special prize, but only one name will be picked. Bet we'll get more than 77 votes.

And also, to Papa Bear. PB there are times when were probably driving you to drink, but Thank You for putting up with us month after month, year after year. Because you are the MV of the month, and MV of the year, and with out you these events would not happen.

Wow ! Thank You Everyone!!!

It is a great and yet humbling honor to have the support of you all.

There are truly a dozen great vehicles in this year’s contest, and all are worthy of the MV of the Year. I congratulate you all for the blood, sweat, and tears that you put into these vehicles. Each one is as unique and individual as you all.

I also want to thank the voters. As I look over the names of those who cast a vote for this little deuce tipper, and I see three distinct groups.
  • I see names of members who I have never met or talked to, but I recognize their cryptic screennames and stories.
  • I see names of members that I run into at parades, or rallies, or swap meets, or MVPA events once a year. We drive through the mud together or trade rusty green junk.
  • And then I see names of some of the best friends in the world! Guys that I have known for 10-15 years and only because we met on this website and share this addition to olive drab, NDTs, and 24 volts.
Thanks to Chris Stansbury ( the Original @steelsoldiers ) for starting this site and giving us a place to congregate.
Thanks to @patracy for being the “push button, get banana” guy.
Thanks to @papabear for tracking the contests and the frequent “nudging” to get participation.
Thanks to all of the moderators- the underappreciated peacekeepers and thread cleaners.

Thanks to the dozens and dozens of folks out there who have helped provide parts, labor, and advice to build this M342A2.

I hope the Covid $@#% ends soon so we can get back to swap meets and rallies.

I never, in my right mind, would have considered owning an “old army truck” without the support, knowledge, generosity, and friendship of you all.

SteelSoldiers.com – Best forum ever !!!!
