Sleeper like that Farm Truck drag car. I love the 8.1 in my Burb. Tons of power make square trucks drive like 60's muscle cars!

Pretty hard to turn down a stock engine that came make what...600-700 foot pounds in stock form?

So where exactly is the P400 pan hitting? The factory crossmember is way out front. Im guessing unless you are still on a factory sag springs it should fit.

The P400 pan is not hitting anywhere..... yet. And it may NOT hit. Just looking at it though, it’s going to be real close. I will know for sure once the new engine is hovering over the hole. Even if the P400 does clear the factory crossmember, I may still order one of those ORD units for additional strength.
Factory springs? Ahem, have you not read my rebuild thread? Here’s a photo. I’ll let you be the judge.

Well the ORD crossmember goes under the front of the pan as opposed to the oem one which is under the balancer. Granted the ORD one gives you more clearance to the engine it will be interesting.

Anyone willing to spend $14,500 on that should seek help. Amazing no one taking my tax dollars felt ashamed for doing so.

Yeah I like my mechanically injected 6.2 mostly because it hasn't exploded yet. But $14,500 gets you a nice Duramax that will literally eat a 6.2 for lunch while getting a 1/4 better fuel economy. Sure it takes more then one wire to run but that engine should be like a third the cost.

This is my logic.

The P400's are cool but for the money, there are many other engine options that fall well under that $14,500 or even the $8-9K they were going for a few years ago. Personally, I'm going gas if my 6.2 dies. New GM performance 383 strokers can be had for about $5000, there ae even cheaper options than that.

But back to the ORD crossmember. I don't have one but a friend of mine does. It's a nice piece and just like anything ORD makes, it's top quality.

I hear ya. But here is my logic - I am 70 years old. I have had 2 heart attacks. I have had 6 major surgeries. I have 2 artificial hips and 1 artificial knee. I have 2 ruptured vertebrae in my neck which are tearing into my spinal cord as I write this. My surgery for this neck issue is scheduled for next month. I have degenerative disc disease and have had 2 back surgeries and a lumbar fusion with 8 bolts and 2 rods. One of these bolts is broken in half as I write this. If I survive next month's neck surgery, I will then undergo another surgery to replace the broken bolt. My body is a mess but I am still alive. I don't hunt, fish, play golf or watch sports. My M1028 is the only thing I have to look forward to. My wife and I have been successful and we have the financial means to do whatever we want. I really do not care what stuff costs anymore. My dream is NOT to install a measly 383 stroker in my CUCV, but instead, to install a SUPERCHARGED INTERCOOLED P400 with 300 HP and 450 FPT. I have everything except the Supercharger, and if I make it through the next surgery, I will send the $8,390.00 to Bullet in Australia and get the stuff headed my way.

Yeah, that's my logic. And I am sticking to it.

I've been following your build thread for a while, you have one heck of a truck and a super clean install. It's impressive for sure. If you have the means to play with those kind of toys by all means, do it and enjoy it. I'm not knocking your choices at all.
Thanks for those kind words. Building a great CUCV has been my dream for the past several years. Career obligations got in the way of finishing it early on, then all these health issues arose. I hope I am able to finish the truck, I guess these next surgeries will determine what happens. Up until now I have done all my work myself but I may be to the point in life where I need to ask for help.
I pulled the bed off a few weeks ago and transported it to Barry McFadden in Nicholasville KY to install the M1009 fuel door in the passenger side panel. Barry is arguably one of the best custom fabricators in the hot rod industry. While he’s got the bed he is also going to enlarge the wheel well openings for additional clearance when I reinstall the 11.00/20’s. The 2 new fuel tanks arrived on Monday. I’m going to install the auxiliary tank and replace the original tank at the same time. I’ll update my rebuild thread soon.
