What did you do to your deuce this week?

After having the front axle torn apart at least twice prior for more serious issues, I finally replaced the worn king pin bushings.

The lunacy of not doing such an easy job with obvious drivability benefits isn't lost on me.

They were near the top of my short "annoyance" list that I'm forcing myself to address.

You mean that your truck doesn't have a bunch of elves that repair it over night? I guess the part that is finally starting to happen for me now is that at least I am fixing what needs to be fixed - rather than finding two more things that are seemingly more important than what I planned to repair.

Big plus is a nice garage to work in.
Very nice indeed!

The elves have been on strike ever since I bought the truck it would seem :(

@92ramaro . Garage. Concrete floor. I bet you even have, like, fancy doors that close. Maybe even a heater. ***staring at the empty spot where I would have built a nice small shop if the City let me***
I've probably said it before, but I don't know what I would do without my shop.
"Perpetually grateful" best describes my luck in finding and being able to purchase the place almost 4 years ago now.

Looking at the picture of your shop, I thought I died and went to Heaven.

I have a 40x44x14 garage with concrete heat but only 14k 4 post lift unfortunately not heavy enough to lift the A3 wish I could have seen the future would have bought a bigger one
.
That's a hard life.

But hey, a floor jack and 6 jack stands (NOT from Harbor Freight) and you can still work on your projects in relative comfort. With a "sleeper" you might find yourself between the tandems taking a nap - and not wake up cold.

Slightly envious - yes. Wishing you bad karma - Nope! Never!

When my wife got Covid I told her to go sleep in the garage I even offered to put a hammock or air mattress in the deuce. She responded with some sign language I think was inappropriate for someone trying to help her. So I slept out there but still had to come in to shower and eat oh and get Covid. But yes I tapped into my 401k to build it. and like my fellow members I’ve been there gravel always get that one stone that pokes you wrong. The cardboard gets wet the vehicle drips in your ear down your back. My mother-in-law used to say I don’t know why you need a lift she was never under there with me in January in PA changing her oil lol. I do love the garage always wish it was bigger, so unfortunately A3 sits outside unless I’m working on it. Planning on getting some sort of carport if they become available again thanks (Brandon) or buy a used one. If any of you live near me and you need to work on your MV let me know I’ll keep you off the gravel and grass.

My Summer driver/time capsule experiment I got back in 2016.
I park the car as soon as the roads are salted the first time each year up here in MI.
I'm the second title holder to the Virginia State police.

One more shot for perspective. (regrettably has the wrong hobby pictured but better shows the shop/ un-insulated back half of the barn)

If another Steel Soldier member needs a warm place to wrench, I'll make my shop available.

I'm not stingy so long as I'm given enough lead time.

If I had a garage like this, I would living in it instead of the house, however, my wife would not go for it or I would lose it in the divorce settlement.
To be honest, my original plan when I found the place a few years ago was to live in the barn until I could get the dilapidated house more suitable for human life. The time table on that plan was mentally reduced by 85% within minutes of meeting a special girl around the same time.

It would almost appear that women require more amenities than what an insulated shop can offer
Baffling to me still.
