As I might have mentioned, I´m almost done with a body-off restoration of an M997 ambulance.

When I got the ambulance, I found several of these pins in the rear:

All of the pins I found are damaged at the same end, some worse than this one. The black tube seems to be made from aluminium (or aluminum, LOL)

I didn´t find those pins in the manuals, and didn´t find any obvious spot where they might belong. However, I´m almost sure I´ve seen pins like these before. Any idea what these are ?

I have a M996 . I have not seen any pins like that on mine, not sure how big they are in your pic, could they be for the stretchers ?

Looks like a common aluminum tent stake to me. They leave the weirdest stuff in vehicles when they go to DRMO.

Asked my housemate about this. She spent a lot of time driving and training in that model. She said it doesn’t look like any standard part, plus the color is wrong. If it was Army the ropes should be green.

so she thinks it’s just debris someone threw into the ambulance and nothing that came from it.

Yes, that seems to be it ! Thanks very much ! This group is awesome !

So I no longer have to worry that I´m missing a part of the ambulance, and can put those pins into the "what I found in my Humvees" jar. Together with those tabasco bottles, quarters and spent .223 cases (y)

Sounds like your missing a tent... 😁
With an ambulance, you don´t need a tent. Sleeps four, has A/C and an arctic heater.

OK, OK, the heater has the noise level of a 747 taking off, and the A/C only works with the engine running (which is frown upon overhere - treehuggers everywhere :ROFLMAO: ), but apart from that the M997 is perfectly suited for MV meetings.
