Deuce front bed mount bolts/springs, how tight?

I'm mounting the bed back on the deuce. I found torque specs for the hard mount bed bolts on a chart here in the forums, but didn't find any info for the front bolts with the springs. When I took them off, I measured the springs and they were compressed to about 6 inches in length. Does anyone know the proper torque value or how much to compress these springs for proper reinstallation?

Just enough tension to hold the bolts in place firmly. Sorry, not aware of torque specs.
The springs need to take up the frame flex so you want them to remain as long as possible.
We have a similar setup on our brush truck at the fire station. Running up the nuts too far shortened the springs too much and the bolts sheared right off from all the frame flex.

That's good info, didn't think about bolts actually shearing. I hadn't planned to crank them down... Guess I'll set them back like they were when I took them off.

With some sort of "lock" to keep the nut from "backing off". I have seen two regular nuts "jammed" together to lock them in position and I have seen folks use NyLock nuts if the original all steel locking nuts have managed to disappear over the years...

That's a great point, especially considering the vibration in a Deuce. Seems like there's not anything to prevent them from backing off. Mine are just regular nuts. Granted, they didn't move before, but now that I cleaned up the threads they aren't as tight as they used to be.
