There's a guy here local that needs a new input bearing to his transmission. He's rebuilding a take-out and putting it behind a 5.9 Cummins. I seem to recall a thread with an issue about the correct bearing. Do any of you know how to source the correct bearing or part number?

The chart in post #16 has the correct bearing number: BL308 Z NR
(= 90×40×23 high load 11-ball deep groove ball bearing; one side shielded and the other side having a snap ring).

When I did my trans, I sourced my bearings from the list and one didn't fit...Tom told me there was something about a suffix in the number, but I can't find the conversation.

I'm pretty sure it's DD on the breakdown, RNU207. Front of the countershaft. I fought and fought that
countershaft in the middle of the night, never could get it in the rollers. Old bearing looked good so I reused it.

Tom, do you remember? Or I could check with my purchasing guy and check my deuce file and parts shelf and see if I can find the bearings or list or something. I saved money buying the bearings myself at whole sale prices, but wished I'd just gotten them from Tom.

Found order list list and "wrong" new bearing. Bearings were ordered from Baker Bearing. The one that didn't fit is a Steyr. Box says RNU207.STE

Bearing itself says 2nuo7

That number 2nuo7 sounds very odd, should be NU207 ? Still incorrect for our application, if it had no "E" suffix....

Please see my recent post, here....

And this link shows the correct dims & specs for our Spicer 3052 & 3053 countershaft's front bearing...

Again, sorry for the inconvenience and loss of time!!
(Shows that numbers just can't be checked often enough!)

I'm glad I could help in some way. Attaching a pic of said wrong bearing. Good thing it came up, I was reminded I need to properly clean sort organize and store my parts. Middle of the night rebuilds are not conducive to organization. Always too much to do...

Actually I could have a use for that one...

One customer brought his countershaft - worn beyond limit, where the bearing rides on. It sure could be saved by grinding/reducing that diameter to 43.8mm. But then I got a couple brand-new CS's, cheap... and sold him one of those. (Gimpy, you still have some...??)

I am in the process of rebuilding my transmission. (3053 multi-fuel w/pto). I am reassembling the main shaft after cleaning all the parts and am drawing a blank. I am at the point where I need to put the synchronizer sleeve (pictured part: H) back on and the image in the TM shows it facing, what I think to be the wrong direction. Also the pin fell out during disassembly, before I could see its orientation, and I am guessing is inserted from the inside the sleeve out and the pointed end point toward the inside of the sleeve to rest in between the shaft splines. That's what the wear marks show anyway. Just looking for confirmation. Thanks in advance and shout out to Tom at Waterloo Specialties for his advice, knowledge, and quick parts shipping!

I've found that there are different versions of these transmissions. Some have this part and others do not. I notice completely different markings and casting numbers on the gears between the different versions.
