Well, I pulled the trigger on this '84 M1010. First time CUCV owner. Leading up to this decision, I've done some initial research and have been amazed by the wealth of knowledge that exists on this forum in particular, among other resources. So, thank you all for the work that has already been done to assemble this valuable knowledge for the benefit of this community. I still have much to learn, so any insight or advice from more experienced owners is encouraged.

A bit about my vehicle: Odometer reads 10,500 (no idea if that's accurate), it appears to be relatively rust free. It has a manual glow plug button and the glow plug card has been bypassed. There is a manual cutoff switch on the dash to disconnect the batteries. Only apparent leak is on the fuel filler line. The fuel gauge does not work. I'll likely understand more about the state of the electrical system once I spend some more time under the hood.

I will probably be converting the truck to 12v, as I have no need for 24v outputs. Plus it came with a 12v starter and mounting bracket from the PO. I've read the mantra: "If its rubber, replace it. If its electrical, clean it." So that's where I will start maintenance wise, along with replacing fluids and upgrading components that are prone to failure. I've read a lot about simply draining and replacing fluids vs doing a full system flush, but have not observed a consensus so and opinions on that are welcome.

Stoked to get started on this project! Looking forward to making this adventure rig more robust and reliable, and eventually building out the box for extended expeditions.

Congrats!!! You by chance the person who contacted me over on ExPo? Looks like a good starting point.
Thanks man! Read both of your build threads and was thoroughly impressed! Wasn't me that reached out though, I've been lurking on the expo site but haven't posted anything. Maybe it was the previous owner?

Welcome to the madness...
Cheers to that  here goes nothing!
