Also, is there a particular seal kit for installing a pump?
Diesel care didn't have an entire kit in stock.

Do i just need an intake manifold gasket or are there others as well?

Guessing i should probably be able to get them at Napa or is there something special on the J code engines? You need a J code intake manifold gasket also.

So i see the pump mount and air cleaner gasket along with the intake gasket.

Anyone happen to know if i can get these by felpro or are they considered "specialty" or something?

EDIT - Week later and Spencer at Diesel Care is full of shit. Swore to me a week ago my pump would on Monday. Monday came and went. Called him today and he now tells me they are waiting on a part (adjustment screw) and now no real ETA on when it'll ship since god knows when the parts will get to them.

Seriously, if you are in the market for a pump rebuild, save yourself the time, money and aggravation of dealing with Diesel Care.

The only thing they have is excuses. About to call the bank and get my $$$ back from them thru a fraud claim.

I work at Wabash, and we assemble truck bodies for large leasing companies such as Penske, Ryder and other large trucking firms J B Hunt, Old Dominion to name a few. The parts supply shortages are a true and real thing. I have worked there 32 years and we have new truck chassis that arrive 3-4 months after being assembled. The delay is caused by fasteners shortage and microchips. Smaller chassis are being delivered 1 and 2 at a time by outside contractors with hot shot units. The norm is carriers loaded with 6-7 units at one time. Someday 100 chassis will arrive. We had over a hundred trucks on hold for small items like caulking, screws and other small parts that the supply chain cannot supply. I don't like it and the company don't like it. Millions of dollars onhold with unknown delivery dates. Look around the food prices and fuel prices are on the rise. Things are changing. Things get really hard to explain but, in the end, we are all in the same boat and can only be patient and do our best until things turn around. I never paid MSRP + a 7-10% market adjustment for a new pick-up truck. But if I want one, I will have to. Our I can drive my 5-year-old truck till things change. They will change. The world is a crazy place at the moment. Happy Thanksgiving.

yea, i get that there are shortages and whatnot. But I call BS on some of it - there are no microchips in a fuel injector pump to my knowledge. We're talking about a mechanical pump here.
What i have issue with is being told one thing, then it constantly becomes a moving target.
All Diesel Care has is excuses. They tell you one thing, then change it constantly and give you excuses and the all famous line "you wouldn't understand since you don't work in the industry".

Go read their Google reviews and you'll see exactly what I am talking about. I did yesterday and totally regret not doing so BEFORE i decided to roll the dice with them. I'm not the only unhappy customer. Not by a long shot.

I emailed someone named Zach yesterday, presumable the owner and let him know i want my refund and core back.
If nothing by today, fraud dispute will follow immediately.

I'll take my business and money to Oregon Fuel Injection.

If anyone here considers Diesel Care, please skim thru the google and fb reviews first as recommendations on here should be properly vetted.

If it is on Facebook and Google it has got to be true. Just post a picture of a new truck on Facebook and say you just bought it. See and read all the comments. I dropped out of a few online groups because I felt like I was in a negative world and knew 90% of the stuff was untrue and inaccurate. But the people would feed off of it and get violent about it. Before the invention of the internet, we did or did not. There was no "let's see what I can find online" It was real world and for the most part it still is for many. I will still stand by Diesel Care. They never done me wrong, and I had many injection pumps rebuilt for all variety of diesel engines. Good Luck. Happy Thanksgiving.

If you read the reviews, they are telling you exactly what I am. some of the reviews are saying stuff that Spencer at Diesel Care told me himself!! Talks to you all condescendingly and says "you wouldn't understand since you don't work in the industry"...

They basically sell you what they don't have. Instead of being honest, and telling you the truth - i.e. i don't know when the part will come in; they tell you it'll be done on this date, then the date comes and it isn't done, so they have an excuse and push the date back. And then repeat the cycle.

P.S. - if you're online and find that 90% of things are untrue or inaccurate, maybe you're the one who's wrong. Or need to realize there's more than 1 way to skin a cat.... There are very few things in this world that can only be done one way.

If Diesel Care would have told me I wouldn't have a pump til Christmas time frame from the beginning, I wouldn't be bashing them right now.
But bottom line is they screwed me from the beginning with bad info.

First when i called, then told me they'd rebuild my pump no problem. Told me it'd be $340 and need $100 deposit. So I paid that deposit and sent them the pump. They gave me a 2 week lead time.

Then, a week after they get the pump (verified by USPS), no one calls or emails to collect the remaining $240 I owe, so I call them. Took forever to talk to someone. Kim, who i spoke to the first time, no longer answers either the phone or email. So i finally get thru to a guy named Spencer.

Now Spencer tells me it's gonna cost a lot more than the $340 to rebuild the pump...he said it's easily be around $1000 JUST TO REBUILD MY PUMP!
I told him that was not happening, so i asked what else he had available. He calls me back and tells me he has some 4544's about to be wrapped up - his guys were finishing a batch of them on Friday and they'll be ready to go Monday morning. For the 4544 he's charging me $680.
So I paid an additional $580 on top of the initial deposit. Spent literally every penny i have to get it.

Fast forward to the next Tuesday when i call Spencer to get status, and now the story is they are missing some adjustment screws and they are waiting on parts, which have no ETA, but he said they "should" be here next week. So basically not giving me a good time frame to be able to work with.,

Bottom line, if you need something in a reasonable amount of time, DO NOT call Diesel Care.

If you have all the time in the world and enjoy being bullshitted and talked down to like you don't know anything, then you should call Diesel Care.

Ive spoken to Oregon Fuel Injection twice now and seems like they will be my best bet. Did my research this time and based on their reviews, I think i will have a better experience with them.

It sounds like your pump was completely shot and worn out. Some of the parts for those pumps are extremely expensive. Threatening a business with fraud and posting disparaging information around to the public seems an unnecessary way to conduct business. It is an unfortunate situation you have been through but I don't believe that there is any fraud involved. Sometimes people let their emotions get the better of them.

The price they quote you does not include replacing worn out parts. The price includes standard wear parts that they include in all pump rebuilds. You could have just asked them what parts were in need of replacement. Oregon fuel Injections rebuild services are hundreds of dollars more and if you send them your same core the extra parts will run your build well over a thousand dollars and weeks longer in time. If you indeed talked to the owner he most likely was not aware of every part in inventory. Your pump is one in hundreds of pumps that they do monthly along with all the other services they perform. They most likely stripped your pump down to determine all the needed repairs. A new pump is in the 2500.00 range, not cheap. I have not heard anything that members on this site have ever said about bad reviews with Diesel Care. If you can't resolve you differences then have them box it up and send it back to you and then you can send it up to Oregon Injection and hope for different results.

I know of diesel injection rebuilders in my area that will not do retail sales. They will only deal with professional shops. I get my nozzles tested there and get a few diesel related parts from them. Right now, I know that the stock fuel filters are hard to come by. I have a few in stock but I would not want to be waiting for one if I was in dire need of one. On the snowplow trucks we opted to let them on another year and have been riding out back orders on many truck/vehicle related parts. My friend has a Mini Cooper, and it needs a radio wiring harness and has been on back order for 6 months. I wanted 5 Goodyear Wrangler MTR 31 x 10.5 x 15 tires. Not available. The dealer thinks they are discontinued. I feel for you and your situation, but I am sure Diesel care is NOT intentionally screwing with you. And I have read and watched a few of the videos people posted about bad pumps. Like the local shops said to me they sell a rebuilt pump or rebuild the pump and the private individual most times is back with issues after the sale that are not pump related and they just had enough of it. Time is money and like I said we have several million dollars of vehicles setting in limbo for odds and ends that were readily available 2 years ago. I really hope this is not your daily driver. I was glad when I got away from driving one as a daily just for these reasons. My first CUCV was an 8-year-old truck in 1995. The equates to a 2015 Chevrolet truck if I were to buy one right now. That should put it in context a bit. They are old and many are out of the system parts are not as popular and get harder to find and more expensive. Bad Mouthing them will accomplish nothing. It will put you at odds with them. They can read the internet. I have a friend that replies to all internet comments on a company website whether they are good or bad. He said some complaints are never settled and that is life. Good Luck. Happy Thanksgiving. dc_cucv. I think most, if not all of us understand that your situation is not currently a good one. That said, folks like cucvrus, ezgn and others, have been doing this for a while and are deep into these trucks. They have also sorted through a lot of vendors, both good and bad. When they give out a recommendation or say a particular vendor is good, and also explain why things may be the way they are, smart folk would tend listen. Getting too emotional about the situation will not help resolve it and could make communicating with the company more difficult. I know it's tough, and we have all been there. Just give it some (more) time and try to take it down a notch. It will go a long way. Just my 2 cents.

Like I said, they have already tore your pump down and spent time and resources to diagnose your problem. The only way to know what is wrong with your pump is to tear it down. I don't think you have any legal grounds to get all of your money back. It is not the shops fault that your pump requires some worn out parts replaced. My suggestion would be to wait for the pump to get the adjusting screw or pay to have your pump re-built.

Stay far away from Diesel Care and Performance. My review is posted on there facebook webpage. Told them what I needed, gave them the part number of the pump and was guaranteed to have it shipped out in 2 days. 3 weeks later the wrong pump arrives after multiple calls. Excuses that they had no workers and no one to work on pumps. I told them I was sending back and wanted a refund. They said no problem but I was out the shipping cost for them to ship and for me to return. Rip off.

The owner tried to tell me how things work in a business and I had to laugh. I've been in the customer service business for 29 years with my own company that provides services, and would be long out of business with the attitude they gave me. I found a local stanadyne dealer two towns over that had my old pump rebuilt and like new in 2 days. But then again they have been around for over 30 years doing pumps.
