1200+ mile round trip for a trade

Thanks. It was an exhausting trip in two days. But everything went smooth. It was a trip to remember for sure.

Flame heater has already been deleted. The pop tester looks interesting. Will do some more reading on that. Maybe one of these days my engine compartment will look like yours nemesis

To be honest, they were all fairly snug and 140 ft/lbs plus. I'll just start gathering parts and throw a bottle of sealant in it.

Uh oh! Confirm my fears or lift my spirits

Update, did a retorque and fired it back up. Small air bubbles forming while running even at low rpm at front passenger corner of the head. Looks like gaskets in my future....

Thanks Will. Already checked that, went over all clamps. The wet residual on the water pump housing is from before I changed the thermostat. It's definitely coming from between the block and head. Dried it and wiped it down before the test drive, freshly wet afterwards.

No, it's the f250 in my avatar. And the 8k was just parts. I did all the labor. Sitting around 450hp and 1100 ft/lbs to on the hot tune. Its always in tow tune though. Always dragging a toyhauler or a gooseneck.

For sure. I'll be checking valves and everything else. I'm horrible at fixing "just one thing" I want my stuff done right. Last time I dug into my 7.3 it cost me 8k. Lol. New turbo, new injectors, 4 line fuel feed, fuel bowl reseal, billet intake plenum. New gaskets, sensors, seals. But its a...

Uh oh! Confirm my fears or lift my spirits

It was definitely weeping out of the thermostat housing, I had just overlooked the possibility that it was leaking out of the head due to the nature and location of the leak.

After chatting with a few people, going to attempt a hot torque before going further as I just don't want to spend the money on parts right this second, as I had just changed the oil and all filters. If I can get by for a little while with a retorque until I can gather the parts (better studs...

Uh oh! Confirm my fears or lift my spirits

So I've been fighting a couple small coolant leaks here and there. First was a freeze plug, then one of the head transfer manifolds was leaking from a gasket and an old hose along with the thermostat housing weeping. Got to take it for a spin tonight to get it up to temp and get home to inspect...

Starting research ld 465 1c turbo upgrade

Following for experimental purposes. Would be nice to have a modern wastegated turbo with readily available rebuild kits.

Easiest way to change transmission output shaft seal?

Spicer 3053 overdrive. Can I just pull the jackshaft and input flange and pry the seal out, or is it necessary to pull the output bearing retainer and install the seal from inside the cover? Or am I looking at this the wrong way?

    New civy 24v alternator conversion

Turned out pretty nice, thanks Slate. Lot more adjustment and made the belts easier to slide on too. Then while I was at it, replaced that leaking intake freeze plug too.

    New civy 24v alternator conversion

My regulator went out, so I went the civy route. I didn't like the goofy brackets that had the alternator upside down, so I built a new block mount bracket for the alternator. I get more adjustment, easier to install (only 2 bolts for the alternator, standard 3 to the block) and is way more...

    M35a2 freeze plug issue

I have a leaking freeze plug on top of the intake manifold, can anyone confirm size as 1" (multifuel with "D" turbo) since no one seems to make a freeze plug kit that I can seem to locate through Google fu. I'm guessing the easiest way to pull it and repair would be to drill a hole, use a slide...
