    Strange Vibes when accelerating

I have searched several times to no avail... After putting my 1009 in 4wd for the last trip down the Parks highway from Fairbanks, it had snowed the night before and AKDOT was on a coffee break, I've begun to notice a strange vibration when I have my foot on the accelerator. It immediately...

    PIAA lights

I installed some Hella lights about 2 months ago, drilled a couple o holes in the brush guard and just used a little wire tap to get taped into the high beam wire right at the headlights. They are extra bright and I can see almost 1/2 mile ahead o me on a straight stretch o road. I wanted to...

    CUCV cheap headlight, great result

I've installed a set of Hella 55w driving lights on my brush guard, wired to come on with the high beams, works great for those late trips down to Anchorage, I can see for about a 1/2 mile on straight stretches. I am now seriously considering replacing the low beams with these Sylvania head...

    stuck wheel bearing

Alright, with a little motivation, hammer, i was able to get the outer bearing off. Everything went smoothly after that, packed the bearings with a very liberal amount of grease, replaced the seal, and got everything back together, torqued to specs of course. now to do the other side, ugh.

    stuck wheel bearing

alright, a rummer mallet and a lot of noise for a sunday morning and the hub/rotor assembly is off. Now the inner track is still on there but I feel a puller and some more motivatial persuasion should do the the trick!

    stuck wheel bearing

thanks guys, the hub rotor assy is sturck on, I believe thet the bearing is seized on there pretty good. I didn't want to break anything so I was hesitant to bang on anything rea hard but now I will go to town on the sucker and hopefuly everything wil wor out in the end :)

    stuck wheel bearing

OK, I've discovered I have a wasted front outer wheel bearing, I have removed the wheel, brake caliper and locking hub assembly and the hub nuts and spacer per the -20. I have to say though, the instructions leave a lot to be desired. However the outer bearing has eaten the metal ring to keep...

    Direcetional indicator

I would check the bulbs. Mine work just fine except for when my service lights are on, then the right signal stays lit for an ungodly time, I think I have either a bad switch in the column or a faulty ground somewhere. I replaced the blinker module in the fuse box with a newer, electric model...

    Self Inflicted 6.2 runaway....

this is a noob question, but what is the foam on the air filter? I was feeling lazy, not to mention I didn't have my tools, and took my 1009 to jiffy lube for the oil change. Had the air filter replaced and now that I look, they threw my foam away. Is it a vital component or just an "extra"?

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

replaced the rearview mirror after my three year old ripped the other right off the glass. He even took some glass with it! Yeah, now I can see people behind me choke on my diesil fumes, hee hee. Tomorrow the heater core finally gets replaced, starting to get chilly in the morning here in AK.

new heater core or just a hose?

any chance I can just cap off the line to the heater for now? Don't really need the heater at the moment. I just don't want to have the whole thing blow up in my face and can't really afford the heater core at the moment.
