M923: LOW hours but "high" miles?

The M923 I got shows 19637 on the odometer and 18202 on the RRAD rebuild tag. Engine and everything surrounding it is beautiful so I'm betting it has 1435 miles as indicated. My tach and hour meter are not functioning at this time so an accurate hour reading is unknown. Another item on my "to...

    RRAD rebuild question

Mine shows 19617 on the working odometer and 18202 on the RRAD tag. Engine, hoses, radiator, everything are a thing of beauty. I'd bet the farm the engine only has 1435 miles on it.

    Fort Leonard Wood, Dave......

I can't say enough how helpful Dave was. Polite and patient. Went above and beyond the call of duty to make my M923 experience painless as possible. I'll be sending GL an e-mail soon.

    Bobbed '84 AMGeneral

My old bobber was a whistler and OH SO many times folks at gas stations would ask, "is that thing turned-up?" since the whistler sounded like a Cummins with hot rod parts. Couldn't help but laugh. :) You're right, few vehicles are THAT much fun driving slow. LOL

Great bobber! Love the short wheelbase look. Aren't they a blast to drive!? Congrats!

    Driveability of 395's vs. NDT's

The MVT's look more like a "truck tire". The Michelins I had (just like shannondeese) looked like something from an earth mover. :)

    Howdy from Missouri

Yes! A 5 ton owner at last. :) MANY thanks to Larry! Folks, Larry's a top-notch guy. Hopefully we'll meet in person at pick-up time. Can't wait to get the big beast home. :)

    Driveability of 395's vs. NDT's

No comparison. It was a totally different truck (for the better!) after swapping to 395's on HEMTT wheels. Slap on some lockouts to finish off "the package". Driveability will be improved immensely.

    I just PM'ed you.

Wonder what it would cost to rent a small crane for a week? :) The rear suspension on a 5 ton looks WORLDS easier to remove......no demented rivets like the deuce! All bolts, best I can tell.

    Howdy from Missouri

Man, those are some awesome Jeep combos. I've never had any Jeep with that much muscle. Most are low power crawlers or street rigs. See my last OD project (avatar pic)? I highly recommend bobbers. Loads of great memories with that rig. I'd love to bob an M923 but I'm afraid that'd be out of...

    Howdy from Missouri

Hey Larry! Welcome from one Jeep nut to another. I'm doing a '51 CJ3A right now. I'm doing the same thing you are with the M923's. LOL! Maybe we'll meet at Fort Leonard Wood to pick up our rigs......providing the bidding doesn't get ridiculous. I don't need one that bad.

M923: LOW hours but "high" miles?

Hello all, I've been eyeballing numerous M923's as of late and have seen many with super low hours (say 20-50, for example) but "high" miles; 20,000-40,000, for example. Am I to assume the engine is fresh and the hour meter was replaced when the engine was replaced? Thanks a lot.

    Walker 21470 Muffler install

I had the Donaldson on my C turbo Deuce and it cleaned up all the "background noise" of the exhaust and made the whistle even "crisper", in my opinion. Ohhhh, that whistle......memories......

    New to me M931

I had a deuce, bobbed it, enjoyed the heck out of it (pic in avatar) and sold it (big mistake :(). But since the SEA of 900 series trucks have been hitting the GL universe, I'm dying to get my hands on one. So there are no obvious markings or nomenclature that gives a solid year of manufacture...

    New to me M931

Congratulations! Looks like a really nice rig. I have "5 ton fever" so our truck REALLY hits home. BTW, you did great with the video!

best diesel engine to swap into early-model CJ5?

Bellhousings? What about bellhousings to adapt all these fantastic little diesels to gato's SM465? Hopefully there are some OEM units out there? Otherwise, aftermarket swap bellhousings can add up incredibly fast. Wish you weren't so far away.......I'd be all over that 225 you have right now...

best diesel engine to swap into early-model CJ5?

What axle gear? Even with the Warn overdrive, some of the early axle ratios (5.38's) are ridiculous with a diesel. It'll run out of steam LONG before that 225 will. As for 4BT's.......they're awesome but they're heavy and WAY over-priced because it seems everyone wants them for darn near every...

    Bobbed Deuce suspension question

Which springs did you use for the bob? Deuce fronts? Trailers? Did you use shocks? I used Deuce front springs and shocks on mine and it road fantastic (well, for a Deuce, that is. LOL) with zero bounce. If you don't have shocks, I'd highly recommend them. That's what they're there for-to...
