    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

Thanks for all the suggestions, will give em a try soon here. I really hope it is the belt but I fear it isn't heh. In other news, had a little mockup of a certain part cut out using acrylic and a water jet, checking fit and will proceed with a metal version soon. Some sneak peeks attached :P

    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

I’m about 90% certain but don’t have another belt to play with and test. Lemme see if I can source a different one and use that as a starting point. I’m mainly going off the fact that it sounds too mechanical to be a belt squeak, and the sound is isolated very close to the compressor. But yeap...

    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

Welp new item on the list of things to handle: I think my AC compressor clutch might be giving out, it squeaks until the vehicle has ran for 20-30 minutes and then calms down. Tried to see if I could find the clutch alone, but seems like the compressor just sells as a single unit. Anyone else...

    M35A2 Aftermarket Radiator Install Thread

This might be the route to go for my bottom fitting if it doesn't seal up well, didn't know these types of reducer sleeves existed.

    M35A2 Aftermarket Radiator Install Thread

Yep so I’m not 100% sure the hoses will line up perfectly yet, but here’s what’s coming Monday hopefully: - 2” 90 degree elbow - 1.5” 90 degree elbow - 2 to 1.5” 4” long reducer - 2” billet coupler - 1.5” billet coupler The deuce has 2” fittings on top and bottom: The new radiator has a 1.5”...

    M35A2 Aftermarket Radiator Install Thread

Finalized the mounting of the radiator itself, so now I’m just waiting on the hoses to arrive. Used little strips of rubber I cut out to size to act as somewhat of dampeners as well.

    M35A2 Aftermarket Radiator Install Thread

Indeed! The original is bulky, blocks a lot of access to the front of the engine, and is prone to cracks along the top reservoir seam and the sides :( I also wasn’t about to spend $1600+ on a used original one lol Just finished the bottom brackets, now prepping them for paint and getting the...

    M35A2 Aftermarket Radiator Install Thread

Alright peoples of the forums, finally got around to making some progress on this, did it in a few stages. First off - parts (short list for now): - Stainless steel 5/16-18 bolts - 2x2" angle iron, 1/8" thickness - The radiator itself - An assortment of clamps to play with fitment - Metal...

    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

Got around to finally changing my fried glow plugs and installing the block heater. Of the 8 total plugs, 1 was easy to pull, 4 required the glow plug extraction tool I bought from Black Dog Customs, and 3 were easy but only because they had broken off inside a while ago. I got the glow plugs...

Always happy to help! I’ve been moving a bit slow on this and a few other projects recently, got a lot going on. Hopefully I can get some progress on this soon.

    M35A2 Aftermarket Radiator Install Thread

Hey all, Haven't posted much regarding the deuce in a while, figured I'd make a small tangent thread regarding aftermarket radiators. My truck's radiator finally bit the dust and is cracked in several spots, not worth repairing in my opinion. I've seen that people are using 1955 Chevy truck...

    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

This... worked perfectly. I got the high side fitting changed out finally, was able to charge the system and have no leaks. Air blows way colder than I would have ever expected it to. Charged with a total of 56oz (3.5lbs). Thanks for the fitting reference! @Coug

    Humvee Starter / Flexplate Teeth

Sigh... I think I'll have to change my flexplate to finally button up this topic. Had an event yesterday where I tried to start and heard the dreaded grinding sound. The bendix tried to engage into a spot on the flexplate that was already somewhat chewed up, couldn't grab it properly the first...

    Humvee Starter / Flexplate Teeth

So after playing with 3 different starters, it’s definitely impossible for it to fully engage, at least on my truck. The collar on the armature doesn’t allow the bendix gear to travel the full width of the flexplate gear. I stuck my phone camera under there to take a look several times to make...

    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

Yea was gonna call a few shops and maybe we can recover the refrigerant from both trucks, change the valves, and just have them charge the systems while we’re there anyway. Those R134 cans can be a pita with the can tap sometimes as well. Might as well replace the low side schrader valves too.

Ok now that I look a little closer, you may be absolutely right. Lemme go down that path and see what I can figure out. Thank you!
