    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

Yea I'm glad that my condenser just mounts right onto the slantback hatch, I think it looks pretty neat and out of the way. Probably also great for airflow through the radiator. I'll post some pics once I actually get to doing this. For now, I'm just cranking through the mechanical fixes.

    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

Wow that's a lot of good info @Coug thank you! Going to do some digging around and see what I can find in that case. The only lines seemingly broken are between the condenser and main unit, hopefully that's all. I plan on mounting my unit sideways against the left wheel well in the trunk area...

    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

Yea I definitely want the B-pillars to be secured somewhat decently for the seatbelts, don't need to be whacking a steering wheel with my face if it came to that situation. Overall, I need to finish the following and it should be pretty ready for driving around: - SF97 to get it titled and...

    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

Short update for the curious on what's happened over the last few weeks: - Still waiting on the SF97, been about 30 days since they started the process, "supposedly" it's 30-60 days of waiting at the moment - I have a headliner ready to install that I ordered from 800-nonoise. Excellent...

Humvee Engine Knocking (yes it's actual knocking, probably)

So I guess since I've already got this thread open, I figured I'd ask about engine noise in general. I've got a total of 2 humvees I've been around at this moment, one is mine, one is a friend's that we won on the same auction day. His sounds quieter in general compared to mine, and less...

Humvee Engine Knocking (yes it's actual knocking, probably)

Just put in a real big kascar order, going to be fun

Humvee Engine Knocking (yes it's actual knocking, probably)

Yep, looking to source the remainder of the filters (fuel, transmission, power steering). If anyone's got a 100% great source for those, would appreciate a reference. Trying to order off kascar but some things seem out of stock. I may try running some biodiesel through and I've got another oil...

Humvee Engine Knocking (yes it's actual knocking, probably)

Alright so… update on the situation: I changed the oil and filter yesterday, per the immediate recommendation of some of you. drove it around several times, getting it up to full temp each time. Didn’t hear the knocking the whole day. Now I’m gonna sit here and hope I don’t hear it again. I...

    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

I’ve actually read the write up on your site. I may consider it down the line once I’m driving it more often and can observe how the temps are acting.

    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

Yep that’s absolutely right. Although I wanted to be able to pull it into the building I’m using to work on it, without making a huge mess under it. I used fuel line of the same diameter as the original return lines, and they’re on pretty tight. My plan was to order the braided stuff, as I...

Humvee Engine Knocking (yes it's actual knocking, probably)

Yea.. good point, guess hindsight is always clear. First time doing this so I’m still exploring. Welp, off to do an oil change I go.

Humvee Engine Knocking (yes it's actual knocking, probably)

Was actually on the list to do after I get my injector pump rebuilt/swapped, since the bottom half is rusted and the throttle sticks. Figured I'd rather change those two after I introduce particulates while changing parts lol. I've got a wix 51060 and shell rotella ready to go

Humvee Engine Knocking (yes it's actual knocking, probably)

Going to try the old screwdriver-to-ear method against several spots on the engine to see if I can locate it

Humvee Engine Knocking (yes it's actual knocking, probably)

I'm probably going to try doing so before getting new ones. I had a friend tell me I should change them all regardless as soon as I got the truck anyway. I guess it's sanity thing too.

Humvee Engine Knocking (yes it's actual knocking, probably)

Yea I've heard that bad ones can cause it to sound like a bunch of monkeys banging sticks around. A new set of 8 off fleabay looks to run about $270-$350. I just don't want to replace them all and then still end up hearing the noise :P I guess that's what I signed up for

Humvee Engine Knocking (yes it's actual knocking, probably)

Alright so I did some more poking around and yanked two injector lines off the injectors. I started with a random one, just to see what to expect. Engine oscillated as expected, still heard the sound. Then I put that one back, started it, still heard the sound and the engine had a few moments...

Humvee Engine Knocking (yes it's actual knocking, probably)

Hello fine individuals, I started hearing some noises today that nobody likes to just start hearing out of the blue. Basically, I've had this M1043A2 6.5L for almost a month, been getting it fixed up while waiting for the sf97 to come in. Today, I installed a new oil pressure and voltage gauge...

    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

Finally had a chance to verify with the temp gun up close to the thermostat housing. The housing was consistently 10-20F lower than what the gauge in the cab indicates. So when at 220F on the gauge, it'd be reading around 210 on the temp gun. Once the fan kicks in, it brings the temp down on the...

Face cam causing throttle to stick

Same thing here, although I didn't remove the screw, just loosened it and adjusted that #8 plate backwards to provide more travel before hitting the #12 super rusted plunger. I don't actually know what adjusting that does injection-wise and such, so I'm not going to say it's really even a...

    Deep Water Fording Kit

Alright perfect thanks for confirming. Yea a battery disconnect may be a nice to have then. I'll have to look into this.
