I have yet to check that out, but I will. It will primarily be run on the road though and used to pickup/deliver pumps for my business, so that wasn't a concern. The biggest reason I did it was to be able to run at 60mph on the highway at a comfortable rpm. Maybe someone else can chime in with...
Just installed my new 46" tires this morning. WOW what a difference. Totally different truck! Looks a lot meaner, rides better, way lower rpm. Can actually cruise at 55-60MPH without redlining the engine.
I bought CCEquipment's(clintdigger97) custom rims and tires off eBay. He is awesome to...
Sorry, no part number. Bought it on ebay. Here is the listing number 150426271316. 7 INCH CHROME EXHAUST STACK PETERBILT STYLE CLAMP : eBay Motors (item 150426271316 end time Apr-21-10 09:13:38 PDT) .
$21.25 + $8.00 shipping. Only place I could find one.
In Michigan the GVWR of the vehicle determines the need for a CDL class A. Here it is 26001 LBS combined GVWR(Truck and trailer). Below that you just need a Chauffers. And you're right, it is a lot of work for occassional use, but since when has our government cared about anything other than...

When...
I'll get some good ones in the sunlight tomorrow. I bought a 7" bracket off ebay(fits around muffler perfect) and bolted it to a piece of angle iron, then bolted the angle iron to the original spot on the truck. It's funny to me only being able to find all the parts in chrome or stainless steel...
The muffler I chose is straight through as well(made specifically for a diesel). I had your worries in mind when I bought it. Ear plugs don't help keep the neighbors happy either, and the last thing I want is negative attention brought to my MV.
Replaced the flasher unit and my blinkers all work now, but my front marker lights still only come on if I chose "park" on the light switch. Rears work fine.
I agree with bigmike, $5000 seems fair. Make an offer, you'd be suprised what people will take some times. I once got a guy to come down to $30k on a service truck he was asking $42k for. It was easily worth what he was aking. Fully stocked with hand/power tools, a miller welder/generator, air...
