Could that red marker light be an interior light tied to one of the switches? My dad's M37 came from Fort Drum with an armored vehicle interior light bolted to the dashboard with a switch built into it for both a red and a white light.
@Thoers I see you haven't been online since you made your last post on Wednesday. There are good answers to your question here. Don't let them discourage you from getting a military truck if you really want one. We just want you - and others who come across this topic with the same question -...
It's not so much that - my concern was law enforcement catching someone limping duals. During a natural disaster they'll be pre-occupied with other things.
You could probably get away with limping on damaged duals during a natural disaster. You definitely won't be outrunning a tornado at 50 MPH though
Sometimes? Bigger wheels certainly help, and so does varying tire pressure. At the same time, they can also get stuck. Are you going to be able to unstick a truck that weighs between 7 and 10 tons?
I thought about taking my M35A3 offroading with a local group, but I don't think they have...
I couldn't find it anywhere in the operators' manual - what is the floor area of the stock dump box on the M929/M930? I know it can hold around 5 cubic yards of material, but I'm curious about how the bed floor area size compares to an M35 or M923. Is it 12'x8', or something else?
I'll have to remember to get some if I decide to look at it again. The body is done in black, so my wife would want it repainted to tan or an arctic camo for something a little different. Then I'd have to get combat rims for it.
I didn't know there were two kinds of lifts, but I've seen them and not realized it, so today I learned (y)
The M998 I'm looking at only has a suspension lift. Does that typically involve a shock swap and other things?
I'm considering the purchase of a M998. The price is affordable, it runs and drives, and it has an on-road title. The main problem I have with it is that it has a lift kit and pimpy rims with 40" tires.
Does anyone have any advice about installing and/or removing lift kits from HMMWVs? I...
I don't envy any of you removing cabs from your trucks. Just looking at that 5-ton cab with all the wires and cables makes the job look huge!
If I had to do it, I'd want either a 5-ton wrecker on hand or a shop with a beefy ceiling-mounted rail rail crane.
Last a I knew a big pry bar and a pallet jack were tools to help obtain the advantage :) I'm happy to know my limits and how to work with them so I know how to do this safely.
My pallet jack cost me maybe $8 in gas :p
I'm actually thinking about making a wooden backrest frame that sets on the forks and is secured to them by sliding pins and braces either against the forks or where the pallet jack handle mounts. I'd love it to be metal though and have a guy down the...
