The little star adjusters? Clearance is 0.020" to 0.040" it's pretty basic. The wedge style brakes are different but really simple. I had to use a mallet to get mine off, rocking it side to side and striking it, but it wasn't anything abnormal. Just a 3# dead blow for a dozen whacks side to...
It's in my shop someplace in it's project box.... It's really basic you have to break out power and comms from the plug. Problem is the plug is a solder cup style and the wires are quite small. I highly doubt you will be able to solder them into the factory plug simply because there's no space...
I have a couple "Force Protection" MRAP winch kits brand new in crates. I had to buy a lot of three to get one for my deuce. It'll yank the deuce all over no problem. Usually I'm in the cab with the engine throttled up on the brakes with the remote. They are pretty strong winches: 24V...
Looks like there's one hosted here: http://manuals.chudov.com/M939-Series-Trucks/CTIS-AXTS-0015.pdf
The FMTV is the "flange mount wiring diagram" page 66.
Nice to see somebody do this on a bench. I made a "breakout harness" for my M936A2 that uses the same STE ICE components but on the truck. So I test and program on the vehicle.
It's different for the FMTV I have to make another breakout harness. The pins are in different locations. I bought the...
Sounds like the CTIS is failing the pressure check. It sends a pulse to check and if the sensor sees it fall (when the pressure should be steady) it faults out because quite obviously there's a leak.
Here's what I would do:
-Get an air supply for the truck you can't work on it with it running...
Pull the pump and check it out. Mine was filthy but even after cleaning would only run upside down. Since it's really hard to drive the truck that way I needed a new one.
Honestly the stock pump is a crappy design. Why replace it with the same junk? I installed a Walbro for half the price and...
I took the test in my M936A2 which weighs about 37k. For what it's worth the DMV didn't seem to care that the vehicle wasn't commercial. At the time it had Michigan Antique plates and registration as I was still in the process of getting CA Historical Vehicle status (I told them as much). They...
Yes my experience is with probably the strictest state and my particular experience in it. That said it may prove valuable or useful to somebody which is why I posted it.
If you are exempt as a farm vehicle then yes you can drive anything over 26,000 pounds such as a HET (within certain...
Yeah I have an M35A2 as well, an M105A2 trailer, an M1102 trailer, an M817 and an M1087A0.... I'm pretty familiar.
The DMV here in CA doesn't have a clue. I was in there on other business and asked what licence I needed and they said a B. I went to take the test and they said I needed to take...
On the M939A2 getting to the PCU to check solenoids, power, etc.. is the hardest part if it's a winch truck the cover is kind of a PITA. The bench test for the solenoids (there are only three) is easy and cleaning the valve block is easy. The CTIS manual has pinouts for all this if you can use a...
There's a 4-way fitting off the primary tank that has the pressure switch. It closes at about 120 and opens about 90psi. It has an amphenol 3 pin connector (but only uses 2 contacts). You should test this switch. If the switch is bad the OEM ones are expensive but you can fit an HVAC switch with...
When you say a "harness to run unit on external batteries" do you mean the connector that's meant to jump a battery pack? I can't recall seeing anything other than that on the units I have.
You have to use two separate batteries connected to the proper leads (batt1 and batt2). The system...
I have a kit in the M35 and one I intend to install in the M817 (they are the same) and then there's the ones that came with the M1078. As far as I can tell the only difference between them is the spacer bracket for the M35/M809 dash (it's partly sloped and the M939 is flat). If I install the...
There's not a lot I can help with without physically putting a meter to it and probing about. It's a nice package looks very well built. One can easily identify the charging circuit for the on board battery, drivers and such. It's a three wire plug but only two positions are used for a DC input...
