Gear Fluid Life Longevity and Brake [Wheel] Cylinder Rubber Longevity [2-Fold Question]

All rubber has some type of longevity, out of the sun is best as the UV rays causes it to dry rot quicker, that's usually why tires get dry rotted quicker than normal, but for the wheel cylinders, that's subjective. If they haven't given out in four to five years, that would be a good time to...

    Finally got me a deuce!

Wasps, mice, and birds just seem to love the military trucks for some reason. Mine has a robin's nest in the spare tire carrier, and a few wasp nests towards the back under the truck on the inside of the frame. Not only do we need a spare tools, belts, spare tire, oil, and coolant, now we need...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

The flapper I bought is Ohio Diesel Parts, found it on Amazon, $27 I can't complain. 3-1/2 Inch Tractor Exhaust Silencer Weather Flap Rain Cap Muffler Cover 3.5" - Black https://a.co/d/5ZlLFZz

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Agreed, most I saw were far from cheap unlike ten twelve years ago, could buy those for half the price all day. The flapper is fricken awesome too, I really like it. When idling, I just tap the throttle and I can make it go tap tap tap tap for a few moments before it levels back off, lol.

Driver of HMMWV dead after accident...

Sad news to hear. Regardless of what it was, it seems like not wearing the seat belt was a major factor other than not driving defensively.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I had to fix my J pipe due to rotting in the trap and I cut off the top of the stack and installed a rain cap or flapper as I like to call it. About a 6 hr job but it's all newly painted, new hardware, and looks good imo. The only troubles I had was removing the J pipe, normally it just slides...

    395/85R20 tires for Deuce

Those who have the 395's with combat rims and adapter plates, when y'all remove the tire, you guys just remove the 6 lug nuts from the Deuce's hub or do you remove the 10 bolts from the adapter plate? I was just going to remove the 6 lug nuts for now as 6 seems easier than 10 as long as I keep...

Blown tire need pneumatic bottle jack suggestion

I agree with the above statement. A decent bottle jack, a couple 2x6's and a good set of jack stands does the job safely.

    Interior grab handles

Seems like my old lady and some of my friends always have some difficulty getting in and if they slipped, especially getting out, that could be a painful fall. That's definitely not a bad idea, something worth considering, thanks!

    Interior grab handles

I have some ideas on how I'd like to install some interior grab handles in the deuce, but we all know when getting in on the passenger side, it can be a bit of a challenge at times with the lack of something solid to grab a hold of. I'm just wondering if anyone else has and what they used and...

Newish M35 owner - ticking noise & first major repair?

Spray some water on it and soap her up real good on a cold engine and fire it up. Even with the air from the fan, a leak will still develop some bubbles, plus a cold engine won't warm up fast enough to quickly evaporate everything before a leak can blow some bubbles.

Shifting techniques of experienced Deuce Drivers

I will say, I always use the clutch and I always start in first gear on flat or uphill grades. 2nd if I'm on a downhill grade or slowly moving. I've never double clutched up or down and I only downshift once I'm about 5 mph or more under the max speed for that gear. Your transmission kinda talks...

Newish M35 owner - ticking noise & first major repair?

I'd definitely check for leaks with some soapy water. Usually if a head gasket blows like that, it will like to leak either oil or coolant under pressure and the loss of power seems to be random due to the severity of the issue.

    Fuel filter adapters

He's been on Steel Soldiers for a long time and he's always made sure his filter adapters were up to snuff. No worries ordering from him.

Deuce: I just broke my primary fuel canister

Nice, I was wondering if you were able to reuse the male fittings from the old housing. Thanks, I might convert mine on over just to dump the canister, spin on would be way more convenient, lol.

Deuce: I just broke my primary fuel canister

It's motor oil and at least it's 15w-40, so I see no issues with it. If anything, it's most likely on par with other diesel oils like Rotella, but being that it says long drain, I wonder if that oil has a blend with their flagship stabilizer. As far as installing your primary fuel filter base...
