Maybe it was totalled by the fire dept and they got another truck 🤷♂️ I guess it's a thing to just let equipment sit when it's no longer desired. A local fire dept is selling a big 3-axle ladder truck that's just sitting outside right now! They do start and run it every so often though...
Wow that's cool - less than a hundred after mine! I get the feeling that the first thousand or two M35A3s had the green Cat motors in them. I really should start a thread about that :p
That seems like quite a project! I can't imagine getting a flood truck, but if the price is right, why not?
Good luck with it! The M35A3 is a fun deuce :)
What was the cost of the rebuild alone? I've seen around $2000 mentioned here a few times, with most of it consisting of replacing broken pistons and seals with 4L80E ones by an Allison shop. I'm hoping I won't need one for some time, assuming that the Military Mail Terminal it was assigned to...
I favor buying from private sellers, even better if they're local. Best is to buy from someone in a local military vehicle club or someone here because those sellers have reputations to maintain. Also know what you're getting into - engage the seller, talk about the truck, take it for a test...
That's the most M109A4 I've seen in one picture! I still don't see many of them, but I'm pretty sure the M36A3 is more rare. Maybe I'll get one of each some day :p
Congratulations with the purchases! If you don't want the tanker perhaps another truck collector may be interested in it.
Where did all the M34s go? Were they all converted to M35s or just scrapped? I don't think I've ever seen one in person. I've seen M135s and M211s though.
Those last two in the first post are 5-tons -
The middle pic is some flavor of M54 identified by the air cleaner on the fender.
The last pic is another M54 identified by the 10-lug wheels.
I've heard that deuces and lighter didn't make the best gun trucks since their capacity for weapons and...
What's the diameter on those tires? 46" 395 won't rub on the the M35 bed, or each other on the tandem axles. It looks like the M34 had a completely different bed too, not just the wheel wells. See how the front of the bed doesn't slope upward? The M35 bed sits higher I think, and that was...
The tach on my truck has been mostly non-functional this year after having worked all last year. I might pull the doghouse and adjust the tach sensor before running the troubleshooting procedure to see if that fixes the issue. I haven't been under the doghouse yet anyway.
It's a good thing...
