    Mep802a starts then shuts off

Ok, I went back through the posts and where I thought it said codes it was stating "Fault lights" . That was what got me on the computer path. I am not familiar with the 800 series since when I was looking at them they were just too expensive. Another of my things about "Surplus". Surplus items...

    Mep802a starts then shuts off

TQG's? Not an acronym I am familiar with but if you are talking about the 802 series they have LED screens don't they? Don't they have microprocessors controlling those screens and the functions those screens provide? I saw back in the beginning of the thread someone asked if there were any...

    Mep802a starts then shuts off

Are they still demilling these sets by cutting wires and such like they used to do with the older 002 and 003 series? Or do they just flat out sell them without worrying about that anymore? I stopped being interested in them once they went to computer controls. To me, the whole idea of military...

    Mep802a starts then shuts off

Here is the problem, When you leave out steps you have done you leave us in the dark. We have no idea if that step helped or harmed. If the manual says that the dead crank switch only cranks but does not start the engine but you are saying it does start the engine than it sounds to me like those...

    Mep802a starts then shuts off

In your typing you tend to leave out entire words so that makes following your conversations hard. But from what you have said like the part about the two wires on the o/p sensor and asking if it were just a ground makes me wonder if you have even looked at a wiring diagram? And if not how did...

    Mep802a starts then shuts off

The ORIGINAL post said it would start and then shut down when switch was released. I also noticed he now says it will not crank. Getting confusing.

    INIpower IG-1000

Works for me (y) Personally I would never buy one but obviously people do so his info might help them.

    INIpower IG-1000

The only reason I can think of is if you delete it now then what has already been said will no longer make any sense. so the whole thread would need to go. Can you delete the links without deleting his pictures? That has most of the info he was trying to get across anyway. He does have some...

    INIpower IG-1000

I have a sneaky suspicion your links are going to be deleted because they are to an auction and that is against the rules but I will say that anybody, and I mean ANYBODY, that would pay 10 grand for a little generator is totally out of their mind!!!!!!! And those are the exact shape of the...

Comical stenciling on 803 GOV planet today

Oh I think SNAFU goes back to WWI. Not sure but it has been around for a long, long time. I think SNAFU was the original insult followed by FUBAR. Sort of gives you an idea of the GI's idea of how the military handles things. In some ways they are highly efficient but in others...

Comical stenciling on 803 GOV planet today

Hell, I saw stuff that defied understanding my first week of basic training! Where do you think the term SNAFU came from?

Comical stenciling on 803 GOV planet today

You KNOW they put that there for a good reason. I will bet the genset was a reset after it hydrolocked trying to start with cylinders full of fuel!

AMMPS MEP 10x0 with DCS - Difference between Troubleshooting with a DCS Code and without explained

Very good info, and all the more reason I will never own a computer controlled genset!!! When I really NEED a set to run I want bare bone basics, if there is a problem it is easy to find and repair. My purchases of surplus sets ended with computer controls. Well, That and ridiculous Richie...

    Miscommunication…………..

One of the BIGGEST problems with internet diagnosis is that you always have a lot of people that want THEIR fix to be the one that did it. So you end up with 20 ways to skin the cat. I give a person a diagnosis tree I want them to follow and if they cannot, or do not, do that then I back out of...

    Farm Diesel

If they see ANY red dye at all in the fuel you are screwed. That includes any transmission fluid. If it is red it is off road fuel to them. I don't really know how they handle used motor oil, technically, you are using it as an on road fuel without paying tax on it so they "could" legally nail...

    AMMPS through gov auctions

If you are talking fault codes then you are working with an ECM. And ECM's are basically computers so diagnostics will go beyond multimeters on a lot of stuff. And I was thinking more along the lines of the engines and engine controls since I am a mechanic and not much of an electronics...

    AMMPS through gov auctions

Can you even work on these without a diagnostic computer? For that kind of money I will buy a commercial unit that parts are readily available for. I can have a natural gas unit set up for less than 8 grand! Power goes out and genny starts up, I don't even have to go outside.
