    MEP 002a voltage adjust issue

True, you can. BUT, Can you use the Kill-o-watt to check the output lugs for 220-240 and 208 three phase? Kidding, but still, you really do need a multimeter when diagnosing electrical problems.

    MEP 002a voltage adjust issue

I would not rely on a Kill-o-watt meter for accurate reading! You need to use a regular dedicated multimeter.

    Farm Diesel

And from what I have seen the IRS agents will be better armed than the Marines!!! If that guy got off for 3 grand and no court he was damn lucky considering the mandatory 10,000 fine. Sounds like the 3,000 went in someone's pockets!

    MEP 002a voltage adjust issue

You want to shoot for 61-62 with no load and then check it once loaded. The difference will not harm anything mechanical. Don't plug your computers into it until you get it all working correctly.

    MEP 002a voltage adjust issue

If none of the meters are working I would be looking at the connections for the control panel to make sure everything is plugged in. If it is then unplug it and plug it back in several times to clean the connections. But if nothing at all is working that is a lot of stuff that is going on so...

    Farm Diesel

Oop's, Good point! But you never know, Farmers get really creative in the off season when they are bored. All the farms I ever worked on had their own diesel tanks filled with off road diesel for all of the farm equipment and as long as they had farm tags on their vehicles they could...

    Farm Diesel

Isn't that the same as off road diesel? dyed red? Get caught running on the road with that in the tank and it is a mandatory $10,000 dollar fine everywhere I know of. Unless you have farm tags. Even then it could get sticky on a road going vehicle.

    MEP-002a won't initially stay running

Remember Guyfang, the 003 has a mechanical oil pressure gauge staring right at you so you can see the pressure as you start. My safety failed but the oil pressure gauge showed I had good oil pressure.

    MEP-002a won't initially stay running

First and foremost are you getting oil pressure right away or is it lagging up to the point where the unit stays running? Try bypassing the oil pressure safety but if that solves the problem you REALLY need to see why you have no oil pressure. Actually you need to see why even if it doesn't...

Need to know what these 60 amp alternators are and from what.

Ok, I was talking to one of the guys from Southern Automotive about that Leece Neville and after I described it to him he said " I KNOW WHAT THAT IS!" "That is an 002AC" They are impossible to find parts for. He told me they used them mainly on the M151 when they were doing the swap from 25 amp...

Need to know what these 60 amp alternators are and from what.

Yea, I got youngins but they ain't all that young! they are in their 40's, My oldest grandson is 17. I am pushing 70 so the bicycle idea is probably out. I could mount it in my M151 but I am leery of that fan spinning right there by the carburetor. Not someplace I would normally be looking out...

Need to know what these 60 amp alternators are and from what.

Interesting. I have just never seen one like that and I can't even find a picture of one. I am going to use the other one in my M151 and this odd one I might make into a portable charging stating powered by a small gas engine for off grid excursions or to use as a charger for my many military...

Need to know what these 60 amp alternators are and from what.

Ok, But what about the one with the fan on the back? I cannot find that one anywhere I look. I did a search for Leece-Neville and the Ordnance number and it came back to a Prestolite equivalent that is exactly what the other one is. Oh, I remembered the place that sell the parts ...

Need to know what these 60 amp alternators are and from what.

I bought two alternators and when I got them I kind of recognize one but the other one is a head scratcher. It has the electrical inputs in the center and an external fan on the back end opposite the pulley. And here is the one I recognize, but it has a rough bearing in it, what is the name of...

Using a MEP generator to charge your EV?

I am wedged between NYC, Philadelphia and Washington DC. Don't think I will have to worry too much about it if it happens. Just a thought for those who were thinking along those lines.

Using a MEP generator to charge your EV?

Just a curiosity question here, no politics, but since "the big one" has been mentioned I want to know what happens to EV's when the EMP hits? I am thinking after that the only thing they are good for is a bonfire. The MEP's will run on forever as long as you can find fuel because they have no...

MEP-003a Starts and once heats up dies.

You really need to read the manual before running the set so you don't screw it up. I hate to be that RTFM guy but it pertains here. There are a lot of things you can do that will cause damage if done wrong.

Using a MEP generator to charge your EV?

Chainbreaker, This is what I was talking about, the level three chargers. I am not a gen-set expert but I am pretty sure that 50 Kw DC set would manage that wouldn't it? And I am positive some of the bigger AC sets would run those chargers. In that link I put down there the section on Level 3...

Using a MEP generator to charge your EV?

Are you talking about regular 220 charging or the High energy chargers that are 460 volt? Big difference in charge times and the length of time the diesel has to be running, hence the amount of fuel used.

MEP-003a Starts and once heats up dies.

I have to agree that the timing is wrong. What you described is the valves overlapping which is 180 degrees out from TDC compression.
