I fell your frustration as.many if us have been there. Did you put a camera down the injector hole to see the pistons? Just why are you pulling the heads? If small fragments went into the cylinder and out the exhaust valve with minimal damage I would just install new glow plugs and fire her up...

Even Dino oil today is a far better oil than what they had years ago. What SF rating to they have today SL or something like that? I remember SC so they have come a long way.
I happen to be an old A&P so I know those old name sealants very well. I was just talking to my oldest boy about using them for better results. The old red high temp Permatex spray a gasket is a lifesaver for holding gaskets in place.

I run Rotella 15/40 conventional motor oil in my normally aspirated 6.5. If I had a turbo then I would run a synthetic. The engine can run quieter with a conventional oil.
