Is the the only mis aligned piece? I would mount the top, assemble the ring and make sure all of that fits together then modify the trim pieces to fit .
Narrow end goes toward the bottom. It’s best to leave most of the fasteners somewhat loose to enable moving everything into place then tighten it all up. None of the top pieces are precision matched.
