    Ld465-1 turbo???

When I added a turbo to my smoky LD-465 It cleaned up the smoke and made gobs of power. Afterwards the EGT and manifold pressure were dangerously high. It took about 2-1/2 full turns of the fuel screw to get it down to safe levels (12 psi at 2500rpm). It is still very strong. I added a stack...

It does not belong on a V-100

    SF-97, *exactly* what is it?

It looks like a title but is a just a "certificate to obtain a title to a vehicle". Motor vehicles will use it as proof of ownership and issue a title or transferable registration in your state.

    Questions on the turbo

A industrial gauge will work fine. I'd suggest a 0-15psi gauge. You will find a 1/8"NPT plug in top of manifold adapter. Put a street elbow there and run a hose/tubing thru one of the holes in the firewall... When I added a D turbo to my smokey LD-465 I found the maifold pressure would exceed...

    Stopped by the NCSHP

(Copied from a post I made about a year ago.) I was in the break room reading a trucking rag. Seems N.C, had been going after the wide load/ overweight permit guys, finding fault in the escort vehicle (the real example given was a taillight out), invalidating the permit then writing the...

    NHC250 crosshead adjustment

I'm confused about the TM's instruction for crosshead adjustment. The first and second proceedure (example 3-16 and 3-63 below) both match and call for a dial indicator and setting of .025-.040. The third example, durning valve adj (3-83), is similar but lacks the dial indcator and preload of...

Here is jwaller's turbo thread www.steelsoldiers.com/5-ton-up/28133-818-now-turbo-pics.html Wreckerman made some good points but I'm not comfortable going past 2100rpm, Mine ran 50mph at 2100 with the old 1100x20's. Tha pyrometer suggested is good advice for any diesel engine that has been...

    torque on rear axle nuts.

TM 9-2320-361-20, page 9-11 -Wheel Bearing Adjustment Wheel must turn freely prior to wheel bearing adjustment. Adjustment procedures for front and rear wheel bearings are the same. 1. Bend tabs back on adjusting nut washer (2) and remove outer adjusting nut (1) and washer (2). 2. Turn wheel...

NHC 250 Engine Coolant Filter Location Ideas

I'm not sure what you mean by hooking up to water pump. The water pump has nowhere to connect a hose (that I know of). The end of the oil cooler does. This should be the lowest pressure point with coolant going to pump inlet through the oil cooler. If there was any pressure here it would allow...

If this is this correct the hoses going into the filter base (my earlier photo) needs to be swaped. Comments?

    Stalwart swan dive

Engine is a Rolls Royce B81 straight eight, gas, about 400ci, though a few were modified for diesel (ex. Perkins) A few years ago a pal in the UK said he had a friend who worked at the factory (60's?). That guy said they would drive them off the pier. If the went at least 30mph and the water...

The 14.00 x 20 Goodyear AT-2A radials on my 5t are labeled 55mph max. Oh, There is a stencil on the inside door 40mph Max hiway

    14.00 on stock rims?

Thanks for bringing that up feets I can add bigger tires will be turning slower, given the same speed. Also, those big tires are usually not rated for 65MPH. Many might not know that the TM states a Max speed of 45MPH with max payload and max towed load. (9-2320-361-10, page1-17)
