Well I’m doing mine in a 20’ container that will removable from the truck, however I’m building mine myself. But you can always buy one prebuilt and just drop that on the truck itself. I’m also building a frame that will bolt to the truck and use the standard corner locks for securing it down...
Great! If your at least moderately mechanically inclined you shouldn’t have much of an issue rebuilding that engine. I’m almost finished with my 8.3 rebuild, just putting the finishing touches on it...and trying to find all the bolts that disappeared lol
Thanks for the heads up Will, I’ll be sure to add those bolts to my list as well then. As for the TTY bolts, yes I have them, they are stamped as much on the top of them, I also followed the QS manual per my application, post-1991 with used bolts. I know I didn’t get into much detail here, but I...
Well, compared to the past there has been a ton of progress since my last update. I got the injection pump retired for a couple degrees advanced, timing cover gasket replaced, front main crank seal replaced on the timing cover, new pistons assembled and inside the new liners, got the piston and...
Got some parts painted with some high heat exhaust paint. Turbo housing, exhaust manifold, and the two brackets for the coolant reservoir that bolt to the exhaust manifold.
Since I didn’t want to wait nearly a week for vinegar to do most of the work (besides the fact that I didn’t have enough)...
I went out hunting with a friend, I had shot a buck but we didnt have room in the vehicle we used. So of course I went back with the 5T to go get it and the other one my buddy shot. Right near my buck was a deep wash, of course the buddy asked if it could handle crossing it so we didn’t have to...
Holy crap! Although I love the idea of a light battery setup to replace mine, I just can’t even come close to justifying $1k per battery to replace mine. Right now I have about 7.5kwh worth of battery power and that would cost me over $6k, and that’s not even considering the fact that my battery...
Got the head yesterday and just dropped it off at the machine shop. No rocker assemblies or the main oil manifold, 3 broken injectors, at least broken bolt, and one spring missing. Hopefully the repair work on it won’t be too much. The pistons are in the liners and waiting on the head to be...
I’m chasing through the articles now, looks good. Truth be told, I’ve been wanting to build my own fridge anyways so I can super insulate it, but having all the nice stuff inside is nice too lol. I’ll probably just go with a residential apartment sized fridge and just be done with it, and later...
Was working on assembling one set and found rust on the intended replacement wrist pin. I’m very disappointed that companies these days don’t use any real form of CPC. Fortunately the other pins were fine, but later the first box of pistons rings I opened also showed rust. I haven’t checked the...
Finally got a new video uploaded last night so that freed up some space on my phone for some more video. Today I’m just trying to clean up my work area, and my property in general a bit, so that it isn’t as much of a disgrace. Maybe tomorrow I’ll actually accomplish something on the engine.
I’m going to have to put in a 4x4 in place of the current 1x4, there’s just no way around it for me since I had engineer the ISO frame out of 8” C channel and I beam (cost, money, & weight) vs using 10” or 12” material. I’m going to make up the difference between the 8” and the current lift of...
