Then I’ll probably include it on my build. While I don’t consider it cheap it’s not unreasonable, and it sounds like it’ll work in almost any environment...
I like the AC/heat combo idea assuming the heat is off of propane. When I looked at the 12k unit you had linked it looked as if it was AC only, but space-wise I think it could work. I could put it in one of the cabinets for the utilities.
In the “driveway” repairs is all that I CAN afford lol oh who am I kidding?!? Even if I was “loaded” I’d still do this work myself, mainly because I don’t trust other people to do what they say they will, or to do the job right.
That’s the way it feels that I’m doing this, in random spurts with only a general direction. I can only do so much on my military retirement, so I usually have to pick and choose my battles for the month. Rarely are any of those battles what I really want to deal with that month. After I had...
If it weren’t for my current pickle (the engine rebuild) I’d be all over trying to get AC in my ISO container. One thing at a time though, and it looks like rebuilding my replacement head just got pushed back a month or longer. My RV fridge that I’ve been using has given up the ghost so I’m...
#1/#2 cylinder webbing
#2/#3 cylinder webbing
#3/#4 cylinder webbing
#4/#5 cylinder webbing
#5/#6 cylinder webbing
Cylinders 1&2
Cylinders 3&4
Cylinders 5&6
This is is how I had to get the #4 liner out
Today I’m planning on tackling the rust in each liner bore and replacing my...
Yes, as well as changing the presets to what you want them to be. It would still have the different settings, just with presets that you set if you don’t want the factory settings, as well as split settings front and rear.
Grrr this website is getting irritating, won’t let me upload pics
I got the remaining liners out, #4 was being a real PITA until I gave up and cut the angle iron I was using and just set my bottle jack on the axle instead of trying to fight it. I took pics of the webbing between cylinders so...
The CTIS box is already a micro controller, just ancient tech compared to what we have now. Besides, at least this way I can change the preset pressures to what I want on my truck, and have a place to make adjustments to the presets if ever needed.
The main control box, I’ll use it to avoid...
I was hopin you chime in soon. I’ve already decided not to reuse anything I have replacements for, but thanks for the heads up on your experience with trying to reuse the liners.
Is there anything we can do to prevent the head cracking issues? Aside from keeping the engine as cool as possible I...
Why not create a thread? I’m curious, and given that any ideas would work for my situation I might even use them.
After I fixed/replaced my float I still had intermittent use on the gauge and it wasn’t accurate, hence why I pulled it out and cleaned the contacts inside the sender...
I’ll probably sell them since a lot of time will probably go into debugging the coding for the computers and most people will find it daunting, or give up half way through it. I’ll have to make special adapters to be able to plug in a computer for future upgrades after the original install since...
They do, but those only come into play when on those respective state highways and other roads, and not federal interstates. Most of the time, state limits on personal vehicles disappear when traveling in a different state. Part of the funding for states upkeep on federal highways is based on...
There are are no length limits, but most trailers are designed for either single use or multi trailer use and have their lengths adjusted by the manufacturers. https://ops.fhwa.dot.gov/freight/publications/size_regs_final_rpt/
A single 40’ trailer is legal, but if you were to do multi trailers...
Ok, the short version is... I’m going to be doing some rebuilding of a few control boxes on my truck and thought I’d see if there was any interest. Main power control box and the CTIS control boxes will be the main two that I’ll want to “adjust”.
For the main control box I’ll be gutting, and...
You realize I was talking about the trailer, not the back of the truck, right? I probably will stick to 20’ anyways, at least until I get to my final destination.
Thanks for confirming my thoughts about the overheating causing my current issues. I supspected that was the cause as it generally is for most motors, I just wasn’t sure if these motors were somehow a bit more resilient than most.
No bueno! I tried to salvage the #5 & #6 liners, but as I originally thought, but they are too badly damaged. I tried to hone the rest of the liners but two things happened to make me change my mind about reusing them. There is a slight ridge at the top and I don’t think I can hone it out. And...
Oh no worries, I won’t be “that guy” and engines aren’t where I allow any kind of redneck engineering lol
I’ll use the piston rings to measure gap while I hone, if the gap gets too big I’ll just scrap the liner or save it for ESOTR (emergency-side-of-the-road) repairs.
