Ok, we are apparently dealing with two different styles of wheels, are those the mrap wheels? These are what I am re-centering, I believe gringeltaube is right in that bolting a plate to them would interfere with the hub. I don't know what to do, were there ever plates made for the type of...
I was wondering if there would be enough room for that third ring of bolts. I have seen some wheels/plates with a third bolt circle but they must have been the mrap wheels. Will the studs in the aluminum wheels be long enough to accommodate the additional 1/2" of plate?
Can anyone tell me how other plates bolt to the rim? I ask bc the 10 lug holes in the fmtv wheels are 1.275 dia, if we use a 1-1/4" bolt/nut there will be some clearance there. Now with what we are doing .030" may not be enough to worry about, I'm certain the wheels and tires run out more than...
Gimpyrobb posted that he has weld in plates? Also the guy on eBay lists his phone number, his auction says they have made/sold lots of them, maybe his machine shop will make a programming change to drill the correct pattern for the fmtv wheels? It's worth a try. If all else fails I have a shop...
Kind of what I was thinking, $550 would almost certainly be for 6. If I still worked at the last shop I was at I could order them in with ID and OD laser cut, then run them in a cnc mill. Even doing it all in manuals it shouldn't be $550/ea.
I'm doing this bc I HAVE TO chose what I spend my $ on , I couldn't come out making $ even if I did them for $100 each. It just takes time, are the plates on eGay the correct ones for the OP?
Here are a couple of pics of what I am doing, that's a 24" part in a 15" lathe!! I cannot take credit for this as I had direction from Mr gringeltaube 👍
I prefer brass too, and it shouldn't be as rough on that aluminum bore. You can use a socket of just the right size or a piece of round bar possibly with a slight taper ground or filed on it to expand a brass plug slightly. Expand before installation!! A pair of calipers would be handy to check...
I spoke to him last night, the wiring at the brake light switch apparently shorted, possibly due to debris. He plugged with a pipe plug temporarily while doing water rescues and got the brakes bled.
He is putting throwout brg, disc, press plate, resurface, rear main/gasket on est, will let the customer decide. Thanks for all the help as I haven't been into one yet, have only read about it.
There was oil present but it will not disengage, have to put it in gear then start it, it will not slip even when applying brakes to the point where it stalls
The local truck shop has a deuce in that was on the way to Houston, his clutch stopped disengaging when the pedal is depressed, they even adjusted all slack out to get more travel. When they pulled the inspection cover there was a lot of what they think is engine oil. Could the disc have swollen...
Wow, I'm sorry you are going thru that, I can't imagine what it must be like. I haven't had any runability issues with my deuce other than a stuck hyd head rusty and the rest of these guys are REAL GOOD, they will get you going!!
