I really appreciate the footwork and wish the solution was that easy. The only temp gauges I have been able to find are for Toyota/HiLux which appear to have an odd proprietary rocker cut-out size (40.5mm x 22mm) so very close to the L-Series cut-out but different enough that it doesn’t fit. I...
@Guruman: I've poked around a bit looking for adapters - the temp gauge that I bought is for a Toyota or Hilux (and unfortunately the only dual gauge temps I can find seem to be made for Toyota) and they seem to have a weird proprietary size (either 40.5mm x 22mm or 33mm x 22.5m) and I can't...
I'm looking for an interior / exterior temp gauge that would fit in one of the cut-outs for the rocker switches in the dashboard (44mm x 22mm). Anyone have any luck tracking something like that down. I bought one of these but it doesn't quite fit (too small). Any suggestions great appreciated.
Now that its getting cold here in the Sierra's I'm diving into the cold starts for my 2003 M1078a1. My truck has an air intake heater (which I believe goes off at 60 or 65 degrees) - at start-up on even mild mornings a green "Air Intake Heater" light comes on then goes off as the truck heats...
Here is the link to the actual sketchup file: https://app.sketchup.com/share/tc/northAmerica/EEmhjfaDJDQ?stoken=Jf8sqacG6HHQfiIdcj0GVPppkGbmc62oK6WhmIxEL88AoXi1RlcYdo11jOSMFvcK
Some folks on the FB LMTV group were asking about the measurements for the rear cab panel so I posted up my SketchUp model of the rear cab there and figured I might as well do the same here.
Those are Rockville 8” underseat subs (Link Here)- I have no experience with them and can’t speak to the quality. I’m using the Memphis Audio “headless” head unit (Link Here) so the subs and four speakers (two 4x6’s and two tweeters) are all controlled via a the Memphis Audio Bluetooth app and...
Another day of working on the truck (mostly). I used my insulation template and cut out the rear panel from 1/2” plywood. I expected that I would have to remove all three seats and the steering wheel. To start with I removed the steering wheel and co-driver and middle seat - I was hoping I...
Got lucky and had another day of pretty good work on the truck. I got the second subwoofer installed, it went a bit faster than the first one that I installed as I learned (at least a little bit) from the mistakes I made yesterday. A few incremental pictures of the second install. First one...
I had a chance to do a little work on the truck today. Was hoping to get both sub woofers installed but the going was slower than expected, really for no good reason. A couple small screw ups here and there that I had to redo but generally it ran pretty smoothly, just took a longer than...
Thanks for the kind words. I did a full write-up on the flooring install (along with relevant product links) on this post: https://steelsoldiers.com/threads/beginning-the-journey.208604/page-3#post-2462875
However if you want the TL;DR version the flooring I used is here and the seats are...
I'm just doing this in real-time. As a preface I'm based in Northern California in the Sierras so our temperature environment is pretty mild (no really hot Texas summers and no frigid northern great plains winters) so thermal insulation isn't as critical to me (also the heaters and AC on these...
