I was doing a quick PM once over on my truck today and noticed a bit play - about 1/16" - between the starter and the starter flange (video below) - which means I'll need to pull the entire starter off to tighten the flange. I'm assuming there is no such thing as a "good amount" of play...
I’ve tried adjusting the panel brightness, with no success. I have not checked the actual bulbs in each of the five rocker switches, that’s an easy thing to do next time I pull the dashboard.
I need the entire assembly that I referenced in the photo two posts back. I’ve ordered three of them from Peck and Hale, we’ll see how it goes when they show up.
I have an interesting issue where just the rocker switches on the right hand side of my dash won't light up. I have an M1078a1 and the 12v rocker switch in the middle of the dash lights up as do all the rocker switches on the left hand side but everything on the right (master power, strobe...
I order one package of each of the follow (they were just delivered today - haven't had a chance to try them out). Right now only my drivers side door is acting up. Currently the issue is that when I unlock the door it will open to first "catch" on the door release, then I need to unlock it...
Just got the detailed schematic (below) from P&H on the replacement tie downs. Looks like they should work. My existing tie downs don't have a cotter pin (maybe that is why I'm missing three).
Ordered three of the repair kits today for the tie downs which include the d-rings and the associated attachment hardware. For reference the item number is: RK1011-3. They were a bit spendy at $96/each. Will confirm fitment when I receive them.
A quick google and it looks like Peck & Hale does indeed have them. Need to confirm the specs but it looks right and the truck logo in the lower left hand corner looks familiar . . .
@TomTime thanks for sending these screen shots! Those pages don't exist in the TM for my 1078. I guess I feel a little better that I'm not the only one that can't find them but discouraged that you looked and couldn't find any. I've pinged one person that was scrapping their bed and...
@wheelspinner - your suggestion helped make my mind up. Given the rebuild kits are now $345 each (and not available for months) I just put in an order this afternoon for the MME cab air spring upgrade kit - which is available now and only $300 more than the rebuild kits.
Reviving an old thread. I spoke to Ohio Hydraulics today (and they were just as kind as @TNriverjet said) about ordering the Power Packer # PP997900 repair kit and they don't expect to have two in stock until August . . . so anyone have suggestions on where else to find the Power Packer repair...
I'm missing several tie-down rings in the bed of my M1078a1 and not only can't I find any online but I can't even find the NSN for them - I've gone through my TM this is one part not covered in the bed assembly (209-1) or sub-assembly (212-1). I've circled in red below what I'm looking for...
Just another upvote for Rome Truck Parts (http://www.rometruckparts.com/) I ordered replacement ignition (E-003-023); Flasher (E-003-020) and Hazard (E-003-022) from them today and they had them all in-stock and cost $23 - $26 a piece.
Dang. Ronmar for the win again! There is a lot there for my small mind to digest. I am most intrigued by your paragraph about powering all of the truck’s 12v with a converter.
The fundamental issue that I have with OEM set-up (besides mismatched alt to battery sizing) is that by tapping...
I am about to embark on a series of cab upgrades on my M1078a1 (interior lights, exterior lights, cab audio, etc) and my plan is to add a secondary fuse block and run it all off of 24v. I’ve read through the multiple battery and alternator threads (which contain great information) but don’t...
I’ve got the truck up in Truckee right now and may bring it down to Sac for vin verification so I’d be right in your backyard! What is Plymouth? I’m not familiar with it.
Thanks for the suggestion. I’m planning on starting a thread that shares my learnings, mistakes and adventures - the community here has been amazing and I want to make sure I’m contributing to that. I did a short walk around video of it that I need to post as well. I’m traveling for the next...
Thanks @Another Ahab. Plan for now is to use it as work truck on a ranch that we have and also up in the mountains. Longer-term I’m not sure. An expedition vehicle has always been in the back of my mind but its not something for us in the near term.
