Unfortunately I'm out. Just started a new job, still have the old one too so I'll be working 80 hours a week for some time, including weekends. Have fun guys, hope to see you in the spring.
Had a great time, me and the little one came and sold some odds and ends, books and ammo cans and whatnot, made some spare change to buy more stuff I can actually use. Weather was fair and with a light breeze, it threatened to rain Friday and Saturday, but not a drop was seen both days. Good...
If anyone is going to the show this coming weekend, I am looking for a spare rim to fit a M1009 CUCV, mine did not come with a spare. I understand they are different than the ones for the M1008 variety. Doesn't need to have the tire, since I will be updating my tires anyways, I only need a rim.
I don't know about you, but I'm really diggin' that M35A2 that Aussie Bloke has. I think the whole "let's put giant tires on it and make everything shiny" thing has been well overdone in recent years. Something can be said about just a nice, original configuration truck in a decent standard...
There's also Coleman's Surplus in Millersburg, PA. He has some MVs in the back, check with Shawn in the main office before you go poking around, some of the trucks he sells complete, others are hulks that have been there for a while and he won't mind selling parts off them.
Best luck to you! Would love to see some pictures of Soviet-era military vehicles in the hands of collectors and offroaders now....perhaps there is a MV club in Russia like the MVPA in the US?
Yeah, I was at every one from the start, Fall 2007 thru Fall 2015. The last few years of which I was thumbing a ride since I didn't have an MV of my own. I really missed owning my old deuces to offroad in! Looking forward to RC again....
I looked though the past threads and didn't see anyone posted up about this show. Who's going this time around? Coming up next weekend, I'm already starting to get my gear ready to pack.
Here's more details, here: RED BALL EVENTS
I might be into a RC trip this time around. Been about 6 years since I was last there. And now that I have my 1009, it's looking to flex its springs a bit on the trails.
I found a few pics of Andrew when he was at Aberdeen MD show in May 2018, doing a BBQ dinner for a few friends. Also a pic, some years before, of his tractor/trailer setup that he was well known by, driving to the Aberdeen shows. He was always parked down by the bottom end of the show parking...
I moved my '84 M1009 home today, drove onto the rollback, and drove off. Strong engine and no rust! Dash has no cracks and the only problems are the rear window is non-functional, a few small mechanical issues I can easily tackle, and perhaps a new set of shoes since the tires are decades old...
Had a great time, as usual, at Graves this year with the little one and the fur baby. Weather was beautiful on Saturday. Cabell's BBQ was on-point as always! Trail ride was fun, never been on that trail before, pretty hairy! Anyways, took a few pictures of the day and the vehicles there...
It is with a heavy heart that I must report of the passing of one of our members, Andrew T. Lukaesko, also known as Scrounger on this forum. He has been a long-time collector of MV stuff for decades, active in the hobby and a frequent show-goer to Aberdeen MV shows as well as other local events...
Well, looks like due to circumstances outside of my direct control, I will NOT have my new CUCV there at the Graves rally this time around, but my daughter and I will still be there, thumbs out waiting for a couple spare seats for the trail rides again. I really wanted to be under my own power...
