The batteries are hooked in series. Any "break" in them will result in the vehicle not starting. I have a "+" side kill switch on my M923 and a "-" on my M715. Both work fine. Here is a thread regarding the pros and cons of each.

Still love them to this day. Went to Bolivar, TX with @fuzzytoaster @m715mike and others (can't remember their username atm) and used them on the beach at night to light up (and possibly record) some shenanigans.

If you look at the front bumper of my M715, the trailer receiver option is what was done.
They also have it in the back.
Of course that winch was 12vdc, not hydraulic, so your option will be limited.
