As the originator of the pic in post #1, I can confirm no adverse effects felt or observed in the first ~3k+ miles with those sintered filters at the end of the chain. Install was laborious but simple. I will do it to any additional wheels/tires I build up as I think it's worth the effort...
Excellent news- up and running smoothly!!
Got all the pieces back into the proper places, poured in some coolant and fresh synthetic, and fired up the motor on Sat afternoon. Quite happily, nothing went crash, crunch, or bang, and nothing started knocking. I tried to get it primed by pulling...
Yes. It's the last thing in line on the way into the tire/first thing to run into when air is venting.

Got it. I ran my flow through it to make sure air purges, so mine heats up. I have heater and ~4 total feet of hose running outside of the hab. Everything else is quite purposefully indoors.
I put sintered filters in my wheels at the end of the plumbing delivering air and have noticed no adverse effects. The filter dia is significantly larger than the line dia, but the filter media will reduce the effective area. My experience has shown it to work fine but YMMV.
Edit- found a...
Is the alu tank your header tank? You will likely want to move that indoors somewhere. Otherwise, your 150° glycol will be chilling rapidly while waiting for its trip through the heater. Even just moving it inside the passthrough would likely make a world of difference.
Everyone's restraint and planning is different, but I would be very cautious about putting panels on the side of the rig. These rigs are wide enough and I've already collected more pinstripes than I imagined I would ever get on my paneling. I cringe at thinking about what damage might have...
I did pick up my own kit of stuff and a laptop to run it. They both ride in the cab, easily accessible. While I have only used the DPG interface and one cable from the whole box (there's a TON of stuff in the kit), it has way more than paid for itself (I think it was $500 for the kit and $300...
Progress has been glacially slow, but at this point I have replaced the oil pump with the updated one and closed up the bottom of the motor. Oil cooler (freshly decked, had 0.020" of topography to it!) and turbo have been reinstalled. Rebuilt compressor head is back on as well.
New oil...
Can confirm... Didn't do too much driving prior to the install but don't notice anything with them in. Except that I had one small, local, slippery pile of dirt that I struggled to get over prior to the install. Once they were in, I went back and just drove over it. No monkey business.
I...
Just realized I posted this to my camper thread and not this forum/thread:
Began a thorough investigation yesterday which effectively ended up with open heart exploratory surgery.

I started the day with checking the harness/connectors to the IAPCV (Injection Actuation Pressure Control Valve- the thing which controls the oil pressure sent to, and used by the injectors...
Mine (3126) goes to fast idle on the switch or if it's cold and has been idling for a while without being exercised. It doesn't waiver, but more ramps up to the fast idle of the switched function. Not a aggressive ramp, but not an overly casual one either. It does hold the idle speed when it...
Sorry- forgot about these questions.
Yes, I run tire beads. The small, ceramic ones from ESCO. I had anti-freeze in the fronts for a while, but I went with the beads after seeing how corroded the hardware was after checking them to see if anything had evaporated. I may not have had enough AF...
Two quick updates...
As promised, when we returned, I ripped apart the bathroom to get it set up more appropriately as a wet bath. The current toilet came out, a shower sump was installed, a raised floor with drain and plumbing built, and a new toilet enclosure started. I was working on...
