Agreed.
I think it has a lot to do with the environment ( <shakes fist at the sky> "damn you climate change !!!!!" ). If the truck was parked in a swamp in Guam and left aired down, the tires are going to be pretty sketch. If that same truck was sitting in a hangar in...
I'm going to chuckle if government starts unloading cabs and they start dropping one-to-four-per- week now....or if P2 trucks get the DEMIL green light.
The only way I see anyone even close to possibly recouping the money would be to slap it on an A1R MTV and do a complete stock build. Some "collector" might fork over enough to justify the build. Maybe a prop to rent to movies. Or make some sort of BS fake shtf APC like some do with...
Judging by just the people on the LMTV fb groups who have spoken up that they will be bidding (some quite seriously explaining why it will warrant paying untold fortunes for it), and factoring in the point-of-compass profit flippers seeing a potential quarter-million-dollar truck with...
I was digging thru GP looking at cabs sold in the past.
Mostly I found HEMTT cabs, but they had the DEMIL code "A".
Was the HEMTT ever a civilian equivalent?
I can't locate a sold LMTV cab that had a government sticker on it to compare. It certainly could be true for the A0/A1/A1R...
Oh I wouldn't want one either. Cramped inside, crap visibility, way too nose heavy.
The first ones I saw hit the public were auctioned as "scrap" and a little bird told me that they ended up in people's hands.
*these had no glass, but intact dash, PDPs, and even Gen3 a/c evaporators...
I would NOT drive it w/o repair
One of the very first M1078 recovery videos I watched was where I guy tried to nurse one home with a cracked cover and destroyed his engine. They discovered the crack, repaired it, but did not notice the nut inside had backed off the shaft. Things...
Which are actually illegal in a number of states
Just sayin'

So much this^
Never had a cop look at me while driving anywhere.
We popped a u-joint on the way up to do a trailer recovery from Red River one winter. Spent 24 hrs on the side of the road waiting on parts (generator running, work lights, TV antenna deployed)
Both DPS and the local...
See the "One Trip Permit"
In lieu of California registration, you can get a one trip permit (for a fee) to move a vehicle: Show Citation 11
When unladen, for one continuous trip from a place within California to a place in or outside California or from outside California to a place in...
Log onto your state DPS website and see if they sell temporary transport tags. I drove my across country with paper tags. Cost me like $30 and they're good for like 30 days iirc.
*you'll need the VIN and insurance
When in doubt, I just take my old hose to the local hose shop and let them make one up.
Should be several hose shops in San Antonio and along the corridor who could hook you up.
I think you grossly underestimate my ability to screw stuff like this up.
I'm good at function, but not so much at form. I mean, it would still work for turning the truck but it would be a Frankinwheel.
LOL
