My great aunt in Ireland had one just like that, though the lower colour was a grey rather than blue. It was a lovely car, had a wooden dash and steering wheel, and very comfy soft leather seats.
When I was 12 I bought an old Austin Champ for £20 (pounds). I used all my Christmas money and...
I have several Clansman radios and think they are a really good bit of gear. They are fully interoperable with US radios, as they were designed to be, and are (well, at least were when I bought in several years ago) a lot less expensive than comparable US radios. There is all sorts of kit...
Having looked at your "post-mudding" pictures, an idea you may consider or discard at your choice is some mud flaps.
The 715 I am currently working on came with some simple rubber flaps front and rear, which look to me like a good idea as I have always thought the M715 fenders stopped a little...
That standoff of the turn signals from the rear bulkhead is how the larger military turn signals fit in the M715, since the back of the light gets stopped by the front bulkhead hole not being large enough for them to go through.
The smaller diameter lights like you have would normally fit...
Lower price than they usually go for. Let's hope no one hits a bridge with this one!
That broken one just departed my area, but left me a few parts to stick on my other toys. The box was irreparable, so will be scavanged for usable parts and scrapped, the chassis is still good.
Cheers
John, in the Marines we preferred the term "reassignment of government assets". It meant pretty much the same thing, but sounded better. ;)
Without getting into details, let me say that it is possible to "reassign" an M35 from the Army to the Marines with a CH-53D. :)
In any unit I was...
How about hinging it, like the windshield armour on this one? Then you could just fold it down when on the road to/from events.
You could hinge the door armour level with the bottom of the stock window sills.
Maybe use some hood spring-hook thingys to hold them down while driving, look nice and...
Thank you!
Hambone, I tip my hat to you, sir. What a close run, came down to just one vote. Your vehicle is absolutely beautiful.
I am honoured to have been in such great company as the other exemplary vehicles this year. Not a slouch among them. Well done to all.
It's probably worth a lot...
Settled by only one vote! Well done to Migginbros and to BDGR on a good race. [thumbzup][thumbzup]
And to the others, try again, they are all nice.
Cheers
In March of 2013 I was asked to bring the V100 to participate in the ground breaking ceremonies of the Vietnam Memorial at the Texas Capitol in Austin.
My V itself is a Vietnam veteran, documented as serving with the 720th MP.
Our main function was to serve as escort for the 3417 dog tags of...
I have cussed the studs that hold that light, and then the light itself after it was installed, many times! And a few other pointy bits.
My better half came out and asked me one day "Why are you wearing a wooly hat in there, it's 104*?!?!" I just pointed at that light.
People at car shows...
I am a big believer in letting the kids get in the trucks, except for the V100 for the reasons stated above.
When we do a touch-a-truck, I usually bring a 5-ton and the Mule, so big and small. So long as they behave, they get to sit in the drivers seat, wiggle the steering wheel, etc. For the...
I flat out don't let people in the V100. I have scars on my head from banging into fixtures in there while working on it, so it is not "safe", and besides that I don't want them coonfingering my stuff inside (like radios and other gear).
I lock the right side and rear hatches from inside, and...
As stated by Retired above, all the services now use the same colours on tactical vehicles. If your Humvee is green inside, it will be 34094.
USMC green 34052 (or 24052) is only used on some non-tactical vehicles now, it would not be used on a Humvee.
For clarification - 383 is the camouflage...
The M1030 is essentially a 'militarized' KLR 250, the M1030B1 (which I have) is a KLR 650, both gasoline powered.
The M1030M1 is diesel powered.
The one in Hambone's picture is missing the military-specific equipment such as blackout lighting, the front tool bag, and the rear luggage rack. All...
