    REV winch options

I'm no engineer but I did sleep in a holiday inn express last night, and cutting away part of the supporting frame for your airlift bumper to fit a winch seems ill-advised.

    REV winch options

No it's not, the military version is hydraulic.

    REV winch options

Not by too much. It keeps a pretty high front angle of attack.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Finally completed my winch installation, the wiring. The hardest part was deciding where to hook in to tap power. Two obvious choices: under the vehicle on the starter, or back in the battery compartment under the commander's seat. I opted to run the positive lead back to the 24V post on the...

    REV winch options

@thoner7 you can see my posts starting here for my recent experience installing a 17,000 pound Sherpa winch on my ECV/REV B truck.

Is GP now painting over the military vehicle markings?

This is showing up in the auctions now: The USMC letters will be painted over prior to pick up. Is this a policy change?

Rapco paint is no longer Gillespie?

You can also get multi-packs of the nozzles in various sizes, at about twice the cost. https://www.amazon.com/Montana-Cans-MXGCAPSET-3-Tryout-Capset/dp/B00HSK2GHK/ref=sr_1_13?keywords=Montana+Cans&qid=1692815956&sr=8-13

    M1151/1152/1165 12v - Where is it?

Even though I already had the seat off for something else I'm not that motivated to stick my head over the batteries and find out!

    M1151/1152/1165 12v - Where is it?

I'm pretty sure they were factory. Different trucks, different years, different models - identical military 12 volt plugs. With the same type of connector cover as on the STE-ICE cover.

    M1151/1152/1165 12v - Where is it?

My 1165 and 1152 have a 12 volt cigarette lighter style plug near the commander's seat.

    New AM General stuff

Good for AM General, not good for us civilian users.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Thanks for your view. That bit on hot for the disconnect is what I would have done too but it seems a number of 4WD sites say negative. I am going to disregard that nonsense as internet stupidity. And I am in the camp of "no" on breaker or fuse. With potentially a 500 A load at peak, I feel...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Continued the winch install. As posted above, the winch plate mounting holes were significantly oversized compared to the corresponding mounting holes on the winch itself. In the photo below, the winch is yellow so you can see clearly the disparity: Got in touch with a machinist on ebay...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Sure and I may add one of those too. Much more useful if I stick my own vehicle (vs needing to pull out another vehicle).

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Hydraulic would be great but my long search for an ECV front plate failed. I will definitely not be running that winch more than 30-50 seconds at a time with a 10 minute cooldown (as per the manual).

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Remove the radiator and go top down, of course! Just kidding, I know that will be with great difficulty. I haven't been able to come up with an acceptable alternative to this mounting position. A rear winch would be better in that situation.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I continued the winch install on truck #2. The winch is a 24 volt 17K Sherpa brand "Steed" model. I opted for wire rope to keep the military look as much as possible even though it's not 100% correct. The ECV-compatible winch plate is Sherpa specific and is from Military Truck Works in...
