Found some cool pictures - M944A1 SEORTM

A rebound truck :ROFLMAO: I wouldn't mind an empty machine shop truck as long as it still had the generator. A blank slate means I could put whatever tools I'd want in it. You can run a lot of stuff on 35 kW 3-phase. To put it in perspective, a typical home in the USA uses 0.7-1.5 kW at any...

    Where to sell a M35A3?

This, but I manage to make uses up for it. I take it for some light grocery shopping, library runs, and do Craigslist/Facebook pick-ups. It's especially handy when I'm picking up something that's big and messy that I don't want to put in the minivan :) Any time I take it to a doctor or...

Found some cool pictures - M944A1 SEORTM

According to Olive Drab, the machine shop trucks had machining equipment like lathes, drill presses, milling machines, valve turning machines, sometimes air compressors and welding equipment. They all came with a PTO-driven 35 kW 3-phase generator, so you could run some pretty beefy electrical...

Found some cool pictures - M944A1 SEORTM

I was looking at truck stuff the other day and found some cool pictures of a M944A1 SEORTM (machine shop truck, Shop Equipment, Organizational Maintenance, Truck/Trailer-Mounted). I've never seen one of these with the doors open, and had no idea they even had deployable tent canopies. I'd love...

Front Axle Boots (Which One To Buy)

Those remind me of the plates that go on the steering knuckles of WW2 jeeps.

Front Axle Boots (Which One To Buy)

I think mine are worn out due to age. They're probably original to the truck and were never replaced, and I don't think the truck was taken off-road much (belonged to an Army Reserve mail terminal). Probably the most off-roading it saw was when I took it for a test drive in a field behind the...

Front Axle Boots (Which One To Buy)

I'm going to get zipper boots for my truck. If they're going to wear out so much, I might as well make the replacement easy! I'd love to learn how to make my own out of silicone rubber. The only thing is that I have no idea how to make a zipper version without resorting to adhesive.

Best M35 year and model ?

I'd go with a late 80s M35A2 or an M35A3 for the redundant brake system. Then it comes down to preferring a multifuel diesel with a 5-speed manual transmission, or a straight-diesel Cat with a 4-speed automatic. Between the two of those, I wonder which is more scarce

    Where to sell a M35A3?

I'd put it on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist, though Craigslist hasn't been my go-to lately nor does it seem popular anymore.

    Maryland Inspections and Registration Problem

I should've changed "when" to "if". I appreciate what Mission BBQ does for veteran and first responder organizations, but I can do my part to their direct benefit without having to visit a restaurant.

    Maryland Inspections and Registration Problem

It actually took me a couple days to realize what exactly you were talking about. Then I remembered that MD had somewhat recently passed stupid laws restricting FMVs from driving on public roads. Mission BBQ was certainly short-sighted in refusing to help FMV enthusiasts, but that's probably...

Compressor Truck in SoCal needs home to avoid Scrapper

I wonder if it would help to ping a mod to ask to move this thread to the Conversations board since not everyone visits the deuce board. Using that board I helped a 5-ton tractor wrecker find a new home after a local museum was considering scrapping it.

    Maryland Inspections and Registration Problem

This is absurd. @Ajax MD and some others have former military vehicles titled and road-legal just find in MD. I'm guessing the State Police didn't care that you already had more trucks road-legal in MD? I think you better get a hold of your state representative and explain that this is a...

M35A2 or M35A3? Pro's and Cons of each

Sometimes I'd prefer non-turbo so I don't have to wait five minutes for the truck to cool down when parking it. I love the sound the turbo makes, though!

M35A3 Rim Restoration and Tire Swap Project (Picture-Heavy)

I know what you're talking about: Like the trailer skirts and super singles, they reduce fuel costs by a little percentage. But remember that even a little percentage of a big number like fuel costs is a big number! Since your reply I added a "before" pic of the truck for comparison...

M35A3 Rim Restoration and Tire Swap Project (Picture-Heavy)

Tires are all FINALLY mounted! I've identified a leak at one of my new brass fittings that I'm going to try and fix today. It has thread sealer on it and I tightened it as far as it will go, but it's still leaking a little bit. The pre-loved tires themselves seem to be holding air and not...

M35A3 Rim Restoration and Tire Swap Project (Picture-Heavy)

So a couple things as I near road-worthiness: 1) A Bauer wood/nails reciprocating saw blade from Harbor Freight will cut 160" of 14.5R20 XL sidewall before losing teeth. 2) I revisited my clamp ring seating method using two takeoff tires to set my wheel on. This time I used a low-profile...

    Dirty rusty glove box

There's actually a small chunk of that gasket stuck to my glove box right now which you can see in the pictures. Once I get fed up with it enough maybe I'll replace it with a different rubber gasket that might last longer in the cab environment.

    Dirty rusty glove box

I pulled the glovebox out of my M35A3 last year hoping to pull the heater core. That didn't happen and is going to be probably a 2-years-later project. It's caked in dirt along the top and has some surface rust. I think I'll wash the dirt off, wirebrush the rust and paint over it. The inside...

    M35A3C winch trouble shooting

It's not hard remove the CTIS components from the wheels. What you'll need for each wheel is a 3/8"x1/8" bushing/reducer and a 3/8" cap to cover the opening at the end of the hollow wheel stud. You can re-use the 1/8" Schrader valve from the CTIS valve for the wheel. Be aware that if you have...
