Free to good home (and first PM) : six 5-ton brake shoes. A couple have some rust on the underside, and there may be some chips on sharp edges of the wear plates. Very little actual wear on the plates.
-And they're GONE !
Seen a few high-priced foreign-tagged vehicles like camper vans and earthroamer-types on the interstate and in national parks from Europe, as well as hundreds of Canadian and Mexican vehicles, which, as you stated, can stay in the country for up to a year.
One couple shipped their Honda Groms...
If you can fit comfortably in the cab, and like shifting gears, an M818 is a fun truck to drive. Biggest issue for me is that top speed with 11.00 tires is about 49-53 mph. But unless you plan to bob it or haul a trailer of some kind, a tractor may not be the truck you would find useful.
Also, obviously passed through the Maine National Guard rebuild in April 2002, which included reapplication of the CARC. Enjoy your new vehicle!
Actually, I find the 132nd Quartermaster Company to be part of the North Dakota National Guard? The 714th QM Company is based in Puerto Rico.
Except for the backing up a rig that pivots at two points, a M197A1 or similar model trailer converter dolly is a simpler solution. They're occasionally surplused out (I have two ).
Rich, before you make the exhaust pipe permanent, I suggest drive around with the windows open for summer driving and closed for winter driving and various configurations inbetween. I'm concerned that you will pull the exhaust gasses in the rear window. A carbon monoxide alarm wouldn't be a...
I feel your pain. I dropped a valve in the #3 cylinder of an M818 in 2009 and also messed up the #4 cylinder. See post #59 on page 6 for photos.

The truck only had about 1000-1200 miles since rebuild at Red River...
While the bolt pattern on the tongue riser seems to fit the pintle/master cylinder bolts, the pintle ring height would be around 48.5 inches. The current pintle ring height matches the M44 and M939 series pintle hitch height of 30-35 inches, and possibly the M1008 CUCV.
Although it has been...
The purpose of this post is to document information on this trailer-mounted shelter that was recently being surplused by the USAF. I’ve searched the net and found no information, so if anyone has photos, TMs, etc., please let me know.
I won one of about 9 of these mobile microwave shelters...
Just bought a shelter at GP in Saraland AL (my first GP purchase in AL) and was surprised at the additional taxes incurred.
Buyers transaction fee - 10%
State sales tax - 4%
County sales tax - 1.5%
City sales tax - 4.5%
New credit card fee - 2.95%
So the item you bid on for $1000 will cost...
Had to do it twice on the same M931A2 with a dodge dually and an F250 during the initial recovery from Ft Polk. Switched tanks on the 5-ton and the truck died on a bridge about 10 miles later. Used the Dodge to pull it about a mile off the bridge so we could work safely on the 5-ton. Turned...
The drawing is from the 1968 USMC markings manual. Not sure when the large white star use was halted (I think after Vietnam), but I have seen photos of it on the front side panel (where the unit and vehicle no. markings are in the below drawing) and the center of the tailgate.
I remember that truck, you got a great deal! I drove it ~250 miles from Ft McCoy to Spread Eagle last summer across the back roads of WI, and really enjoyed driving it. If I didn't have to ship it 1200 miles to LA, (and if I wasn't broke at the time) I'd have bought it in a heartbeat.
The...
I'm not sure about the lights, but sounds like it should work. If you're only using commercial trailers, you'll have to change the plug to match the trailer socket. If you plan to also use military trailers, you could splice in the commercial plug and also keep the military plug, or get 2...
The A1 model has the NHC250 (Cummins 855) engine. The A2 model has CTIS fittings visible on the wheels, and the turbocharged 8.3 Cummins engine.
If you're planning to haul commercial trailers over the road, be advised that the truck light system is 24 volts, not 12 volts.
Fuzzytoaster's LMTV did well in the water pit
However, with 4x4 disabled due to a cut wire, his truck didn't do as well in the mud hidden under the grass.
Sunday morning, four of us convoyed home.
M715Mike split off after 55 miles and I split off from TAZZJR and Nitrodiver
at the...
