Because if it doesn't pass, the risk is that all registered MVs in LA are subject to having the titles revoked, and new MVs will receive ORV titles. The revocation process, however ill-advised, misguided, or based on lack of knowlege, is currently halted while OMV is trying to find a way to...
There were 7 of us to show up, and to be honest, at least 5 of us were against the bill initially, because it reads so poorly and seems so restrictive and ambiguous. Once we understood why it was written that way, I believe all of us were actually basically in favor of having the bill with...
Doggone it! Leave the forum for a week and all kinds of stuff happens. Last I understood, we were waiting on a meeting with the gov at the end of April. Couldn't have made the meeting anyway - had to be at the BTR airport at that time. Playing catch-up now and should be able to make the 4/19...
Current thread still working.

As the one who coined the term "Cajun Army", I think we need to stand on our own merits as separate disaster responders, so we do not take anything away from their good work, or be seen as trying to hang onto their coat tails. I actually see FMV owners as complementary to them as we each...
I'm coming with my POV and a M101A2 trailer. Will we have enough MVs for the police escort?
Butch - Sorry to hear of your troubles, it's real discouraging when something like that happens.
I have a nice engine that HanksDeuce pulled in 2013, but I'm around 470 road miles east of you. I'd...
Here is Jeff's thread, dates are April 27, 28, 29

I'll only be able to drive over each day in my POV.
I mentioned to DMV that the large 5-tons were used mainly for parades, rallies and deep water rescue during the south LA floods of Aug 2016 and the Houston floods last year. (Remember Sarge coming to the rescue after Katrina)? When I said a number of law enforcement agencies around here got...
That's correct. I registered an M923A2 today at Special Plates and title will be off-road. They said the issue is liability if someone gets hurt and state allowed non-complient vehicle on road.
OK, who got the USMC motorcycle in AL? If I wasn't so low on funds, it wouldn't have gone so cheap.

It only had 700 miles and would be an easy restore, even without a title.
You don't know how close you are to the truth! LOL I may have to have you haul one since I can't seem to keep them running between starters, radiators, transfer cases, solenoids, water pumps, etc. failing at the worst time. At least it's keeping me busy during retirement.
Up until a dozen years or so ago, vehicles belonging to military units stationed in the middle-east were returned to the US when the units returned, and remained assigned to that unit. Policy changed somewhat to save money so that the vehicles remained overseas to be assigned to the replacement...
A few points from my experiences. Assuming the critical parts are not missing, fluids OK, good fuel in the tank and the lines bled:
1. Several cans of starter fluid.
2. Search on how to bypass the black box if a tap with a hammer doesn't get the starter to engage.
3. Two group 31 batteries...
Kinda basic, but make sure the PTO is not engaged. When I picked up my wrecker at the base, the PTO was engaged and I couldn't go faster than 15mph. Took a few minutes of checking everything to find it and take it out of PTO, then it would drive normally.
Good luck, Wes. If I was on the jury, I think your arguments would win. Laws should be specific, not ambiguous and open to vague interpretation. I would think case law would support the state's definition.
My advise worth every penny you pay for it.
Since you are not real experienced with truck driving, I would not start on a long trip with a trailer combination. Pack your M923 with things that are easily replaced if stolen while you are broken down and protect the cargo from the weather. Have...
I know CDL discussions usually aren't allowed here due to each state having it's own varying requirements for its residents, and I don't want to get into what states require CDLs for different private vehicles.
That said, I thought if you are legally licensed in your own state to drive a...
