What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

My Sigtronics intercom runs on a 9V battery or I can hook it up to run on 24v which is aircraft voltage. A 9v lythium lasts forever in truck with me using it here and there. Glad to see others have gone the aviation route. Mark

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Nice! I run a portable setup. A Sigtronics four place intercom and four Fightcom DX5 headsets. I really like your setup. Mark

    Recommended tire pressure

I went a little higher with my 24 bolt MTRs as it helped smooth out the vibrations of the tires. Made it ride a little stiffer but this truck will never be looked upon as comfy anyway. I had a tiny leak in one of my tires and found it would go down to less than 10psi before you notice the tire...

    Alternator bracket bolts

Oh I completely agree with torque being a main consideration. Is there room in the head to drill and tap for a larger stud? And I understand using a harder bolt if that breaks it can make removing more problematic. Just a bad design for the heft of the alternator. Mark

    Alternator bracket bolts

If you move the bracket connection further out it is going to impart more leverage force on the stud. Mark

    Alternator bracket bolts

This configuration requires a lock washer of some sort as once the stud nut is torqued the heat cycles over time can loosen the nut. Special locks can be used but in my setup there were still stud threads after the nut was in place so I just used a jam nut to lock everything together without...

    Alternator bracket bolts

You really don't want to use a spacer and a longer stud as it will put more load on the stud due to leverage on the stud at the base (cantilevered). Mine has not broken but the nut loosening a tiny bit and causing a rattle. Not a great design. My alt is a 100 amp so not as heavy as the larger...

    M416 value

Up here in New England it would be worth about the same maybe a little more. In pristine shape it would be worth over 2K. Mark

Camo paint with white rims look good?

Whatever looks good for you. If asking my opinion it would be a no. Black or match the truck and please post some pics to see your decision. Mark

M989A1 Heavy Expanded Mobility Ammunition Trailer towing question

Not to say you "can't" do it but is the risk worth the reward. It's not safe to haul that kind of weight without brakes with a one ton. That's a lot of iron to come up on you if you need to stop fast. I'm just saying. Mark

    Mike’s Mechanical Mules

Below is the one I did not buy. Could have had it for 11K and that gun mount is worth some coin. Dumb dumb move on my part. Mark

What models are they? Wow three of them. I am really kicking myself for letting a museum quality one slip through my fingers in 2020. Keep us updated on the progress. Mark

    '94 M998 TRANSFER CASE ID

My 91 has a NP 242 but the truck had a refit in 2008. Emergency brakes are now on the rear calipers but the DS Emergency brake rotor is still there. Marl

DOT3/4 vs DOT5 - Solicone vs. Glykol based brake fluid

Brake Fluid DOT Grades DOT3 DOT3 brake fluid is the "conventional" brake fluid used in most vehicles. Advantages: DOT3 fluid is inexpensive, and available at most gas stations, department stores, and any auto parts store. Disadvantages: DOT3 fluid eats paint! DOT3 fluid absorbs water very...

    Someone tampered with Sgt York!

Wish someone found them screwing with your truck.

    Someone tampered with Sgt York!

Hopefully they just unscrewed it. Too high to piss in the damn thing. Just jerks. Probably the best to change out the oil and when the pan is empty use a rubber mallet to try to figure if something is loose in there like a coin/coins. Good luck. Mark
