All original and in pristine condition, in private hands and still hauling troops to parades is the way to vote!!! I've heard the saying that you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig. I've put no paint or lipstick on mine and in my little buddies eyes is the nicest truck on the list...
WooHoo, and I thought I had some competition in May!!! This will be an interesting vote to watch unfold!!! It looks like the State of Georgia is well represented on here so I say Vote for a Georgia Truck. And of course, when I say that I really mean Vote for Sarge!!!
It would appear that I have quite a deficit to crawl out of!!! Bigflew, your Deuce beat my 5 ton by a factor of 6 so far!!! It's not always the size of the truck though. My CUCV M1028 won back in May so keep trying as you never know when it will be your trucks Month!!! That month there was a...
Are they ABS equipped trucks? Look for a little yellow bulb to the right of the starter switch. If so, they already have an air drier but it likely needs some maintenance. If it doesn't have an air drier, it's easy to retrofit one and there's a gentlemen that sells good ones in the...
My Deuce has found a new home but I also swapped a D for a C. Truck had a new in 1992 Hercules LDT-465. I turned up the fuel quite a bit and used to do heavy haul with it by Deuce standards. Highest weight was 24,000 pounds plus truck so figure 37,000 combined and pulled 13,000 to 21,000...
I do have a question. I installed 14R20's on my truck recently and now the ABS seems to be obtrusive. Did they calibrate the ABS controller differently between the trucks on 11.00's? Mine still works, light stays on 3 seconds and goes off. Truck came on 11.00's but now the ABS is locking and...
Mine did that one time. I had to replace the PPV Valve. A quick search will lead you to replace it and your air dryer if you have one. An ABS truck will have one, a non ABS truck doesn't have an air dryer. It's a good upgrade either way.
Dragged some stuff out of some lower properties due to the creek rising close to home. I put about 100 miles on my newish 14R20's but had so much fun pulling stuff to Safety!!!
vrshack,
Very informative sir!! Posts like that are why I love this site. I went and looked at a few M939 trucks with fording kits this morning. They look to only pressurize the power steering reservoir, transmission and transfer case. They also block off the engine crankcase vent. The...
After all the flooding in my town, I'm thinking of going down this road as well. I'm curious if anyone can explain any possible ill effects with pressurizing the axles for short fording trips. I'd certainly not do it long term. I'd also like thoughts concerning pressurizing the trans and...
In picture number 5, the top hose is located above the thermostat. Remove the pipe plug just adjacent to the valve and plumb it below the thermostat. I wish I was a better searcher, there was a PS article that discussed this exact issue. Maybe Clinto or Doghead will come along, they do a...
You might get lucky!!! I just scored a similar deal but had to drive 540 miles away from home to get them. I'm hoping you get lucky and maybe find some closer.
Finished an 1,100 mile round trip to pick up 7 14.00R20 tires and rims!!! Installing on 5 ton first thing in the morning so I can convert it to an M923A1!!! 5.3L powered Tahoes do good on flat ground but hate hills when towing such a load. Trailer weighs 2,100 pounds and roughly 2,900 pounds...
