i was actually thinkin about doing somthing similar with one of my truck. i have one truck that i am about to start working on that is going to be strictly for playing in the woods and recoveries of my other toys when i get them stuck in the woods. im doin this cause my nice deuce i just got in...
down jammin gears will work as brakes in a pinch. one of my trucks has absoloutley no brakes at all. i dont drive it on the road but when i move it around in the yard i use low range and first gear and just shut off the truck in gear when i wanna stop
a few years back i posted somthing similar to this thread and everyone laughed at me. the one truck in my collection got the name "rocket deuce" from other friends of mine with military trucks. it really moves out. i used to run alot of scrap iron with it down major highways and i could for the...
the weight and the planning is my biggest issues. im waiting to hear if the guy who has it is gonna get me an engine or not. the engine itself is another issue. i cant have this truck sitting in my yard immobile. as soon as it gets here i have to start swappin engines. so if the guy cant get or...
i was thinkin that if i stripped all the sheet metal off the front of the truck and got a backhoe or another wrecker to do the liftin it might not be as bad of a job. getting to all the bell housing bolts in my deuce was easy when i pulled the tunnel, i would imagine they would be just as easy...
i have the oppurtunity to get my hands on an M816 for $4k. the only problem is there is a hole in the side of the motor. i havent seen it yet but i was told its a very clean truck. i know that its a heck of a deal if the guy throws in a motor. has anybody ever swapped engines on an 800 series...
i never understood why they made the spring pinch bolts coarse thread instead of fine thread. just about every other bolt on the truck is fine and these would be alot easier to get off if they to were fine thread. i went through this whole ordeal myself but mine was a bit worse. i had to replace...
thats some nice info in the links you posted. so im guessing to get a commercial account i would have to buy a large quantity, prolly way more than i would need to do the job?? if all that they would want is a tax id or somthing i could work that out
thanks guys, i think im going to try the plastic trick. i have had a problem with evaporation. luckily i can hide from the sun pretty well when doing it. i've been taking parts off that i can and doing them, im waiting to get enugh ready so i can spray a cup of primer and use it all.
does...
did you have to thin the stripper any?? its pretty fliud but kind of thick like a gravy or somthin. the pressure washer seems like a great idea, alot less scrapin :-D
has anybody ever used this wonderful stuff?? i tried it today on a panel i took off my deuce. it really gets the paint off good, mine is one of those brush painted 38 times trucks and it takes care of business. im plannning on doing my whole truck with this stuff, anybody have any tips or tricks...
we use deuces and a 5 ton to pull our ginormous mudtrucks out when we stuck them. the 5 ton makes a deuce look like a honda civic when it comes to draggin dead/stuck stuff around. the cummins in the 813 has som much crankshaft that you most of the time dont even have to give it throttle to free...
i was running the stock boot gaurds on my deuces and my mud trucks, i think they work fairly well. if i was rock crawling i may do different gaurds though. the only time i destroyed a stock boot gaurd was when i was makin a trail, bulldozing with my beater deuce and got a tree stuck in the...
i put rear spot lights on my truck. they are nice. i used tractor and equipment lights with the rubber housings. mounting brackets were easy, i used 3/16" flatstock with 2 holes one for mounting the light and one that was for bolting to the truck at the bumperetts. powering them was easy. since...
not to be a thread jacker but all this talk of burning alternator/generators reminds me of when i was putting a heater in my one deuce. i spilled coolant when i was putting on the lines and it hit the my alt and it started cracklin and smokin. i dont know why. the power switch was off.
if infact these boots are made of silicone then that would make 3 different choices of solid boots on the market. the solids started out a few years back made of rubber. the rubber boots didnt last very long and would crak and leak. i think they were worse than the zippers myself. the answer to...
if you have the new style horn button there is a lock ring holding the button in to the steering wheel adapter. you pry it out with a flat screwdriver and the button assembly pops right out.
thanks guys, i got it fixed!! :-D i pulled out the rubber plug and pulled out the wire. the connector for the horn button broke free from the wire somewhere in the column makin it a little harder than i anticipated. i was thinkin about using air to blast it back up an out of the column but i was...
so once this rubber plug is out your saying that there will be enough room for the electical connection up at the button to come out?? if so this wont be too had to fix for me
