Replaced the thermostat again and it is good to go now. Warms up to around 180 deg with no load and then a bit more under 5,000 watt load.
Glad that is settled! Going to do a 6 hour load test today as a "final" test.
My son was admiring his work when he helped me change the belt.
All I...
Updated my lat post with the missing picture.
Fiddled a little this morning with more stuff from my hoarding bin and was able to change out the external fuel connection with some stuff from an MEP 802A that I parted out so it is the same connection as the fuel hoses from the generators if I...
Well, I always kick myself in the but for not going with my initial judgment. That thermostat seems to not be working because of it's fitment. Ran for 30 minuets under 100% load and it never went above 150 deg.
Got the Onan one on it's way and I get to do it again. Go ahead an laugh!
Funny...
So, installed the new gauge today. Old one had a ton of rust come from behind it.
It isn't a direct replacement, even though it is a NSN replacement.
New one has NPT, the old one was AN. Also, it was slightly smaller but did mount in the hole. I used parts from my stock to make it work. I...
Yeah, I think I might need to do that with the one on my trailer.
As far as the modifications for the fuse, I made a video a while back for my YouTube channel. Has links in the description to the parts;
Got the fan belt on today, was pretty easy working it as as Ray70 recommended above. Old one was really shot. I think it was the original from 1994. I just cut it to take it off. Put my 4yr old to work.

I THINK I read it on this forum years ago, but I needed a...
It is a 0-200 PSI Fuel pressure gauge, part number G32781. NSN 6685-01-399-0065. NSN information really doesn't seem correct as it comes up with temperature information.
Made the missing cover fit that came in. Last thing, is the fuel filter and fuel pressure gauge. The gauge I got will fit but I found in the TM that the pressure goes higher than the range I got. Not sure if I will install it. Finding something to replace it is seeming to be hard. I'm wondering...
I will be doing another M116A3 thread soon, documenting my converting it so a S-788 shelter can be mounted to it. I have everything already, just trying to wrap up other projects first. I also want to gut out the S-788 first.
They're not. I went through everything a while back. 100% functional. You can go back and see what I did on here.
These were probably original shoes from the manufacture date, as were the others that failed. With 10,000+ hard miles, it's no big surprise they failed. Especially not knowing how...
No problem on the part number. I think somewhere back in this thread, I shared it as well.
I took them off and sold them. They made to much rattle when running the generator. I can put one on there if need be but in the time I have been using this trailer and almost 10,000 miles on it, I...
Was using the trailer to move fuel to my new storage tank at the house, and since it's cooled off a bit here finally, when stopping, I noticed a nasty grinding noise since my windows were down. I knew exactly what it was.
Pulled the hub off and found my brake shoes completely fallen apart, like...
Thank you. If you make a new thread for it, please come back here and post a link if you don't mind. I don't browse the site a lot but do get e-mails on my Watched threads. Appreciate the hard work!
When letting the unit cool down after the load test, I noticed that the temperature cot really cool. Thinking the thermostat is bad from sitting so long and opened up but is now stuck. It is cheap enough, so just going to replace it. Going to be draining the system again anyways before putting...
Got the radiator & coolant system flush today. Put it in and decided to do the 4 hour load test this evening.
For a while, had over 7,000 watts pulling from it. This unit really runs like a top & it was well taken care of.

An S-788 would be good for this idea. Then, if you have a tractor or something, you can make it removable. S-788 has much more room without much more of a footprint.
