If I don't get this unit to make power, I'll just part it out and use the motor on something else. That was my backup plan.
Hopefully you get yours going!
I just got myself one of these and am a bit stuck as well. Tried flashing, and I am only getting a little bit of voltage now. Breaker isn't tripping as soon as I start though. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/mep-531a-fix-up-thread.208911/
Howdy all,
Been a while since I started one of these!
Got myself a MEP 531A at auction. Definitely had a bunch of hands in it, but, I got one of the best deals that was had in a while on one.
I knew right away the breaker was pushed into the panel and the cover over the gauges was...
That was my thread you referenced above. I have since sold that MEP-016B, but it was running like a new machine when it went.
Just take your time cleaning everything and putting to back together. There are some videos out there on these pumps that show them getting put together. Yes, they are...
You can adjust the stop to be sure it does not pull the fuel rack back to far, no?
Here is what I would do with the sounds of what you're saying with the slight issue of the injection pumps and one having a delay in start. Remove the fuel line that goes from the fuel/water separator. Remove the...
Once I finish it all up! Right now, I have the winch & PTO fully installed and working. Have to do the rollers and fairleads. Waiting on the frame part to come that I did not realize I was missing.
I don't know how you would get heat shrink on there. The connectors are big. Plastidip will be hard to properly apply without possibly sealing multiple wires together. Both you would need to remove the harness to really apply those solutions and that is the hardest part or replacing/rebuilding...
I'm most of the way through my PTO winch install but ran into some snags. It's a pretty in-depth project, so I will probably make a new thread for it once I'm done. Found out a lot of good information.
Got all the need parts on order, including the M1919A4, to mount it up on the installed M66...
I have not had the issue come up again to be honest, but, I know it will. It's just one of those things I'm ignoring. The wire harness should be rebuilt. It's just a real pain in the ass job.
I actually am going to put one of the military battery tenders on there that had a small solar panel. I got one locally & it has a slightly bigger solar panel than I wanted so I am going to a different one. I want to mount the panel on top of the air intake as it's up high & it can easily be...
I brainstormed this exact idea. I had some other ideas as well with some rifle sling mounts and stuff. That cord is more robust than it seems, it will last a while & I'll make my mind up on something better when it gets close to giving up. :)
