Sounds like you h
So, what might be happening is with your starting kicking out, you just aren't getting enough time to get the motor started up for a "first time" start.
Sometimes when these are cold or haven't run in a while the sputter a bit & really need to keep cranking until the...
I just hope that I can get it figured out!
Once I do, I plan to make an entire video on the CTIS for my YouTube. How it works, parts of the system, & troubleshooting.
With this being said, what I might do myself to keep the starter from cutting out is the remove the AC output wires from the output so the starter will not see the AC power start to be made. That way you can figure out your engine issue.
Okay, so that rules out fuel.
Sorry if I am repeating anything here, but just putting my thought process out there.
We for sure have 1 of 3 things then. Fuel. Now, do we have air & compression?
Air should be an easy test. I see your air filter is off. Put your hand over the intake as you are...
It's hard to tell in the video, but it did show a sign of life!
Have you tried pulling the linkage that sits in the little throttle lever & just getting the engine to start at full throttle with the thumb screw all the way down?
The starter kicking out seems strange... That why it was cutting...
After talking with someone via PM a bit, I tried to remove the line from the controller under the dashboard when the wheel valves were stuck open & check for some leaking air that maybe was getting past the valves inside... nothing. Passenger side wheel valves stick open still.
I made a fitting...
So, the airing down to SAND didn't change anything... I think.
As suggested, I checked all the different parts along the way to the rear axle. It seems the quick release valve I replaced back there is malfunctioning, at least when blow testing.
I'm having an issue where that quick release...
Spent a few hours after work today doing a few things suggested after my first update.
I removed the line from the unit under the dash going to the wheels & put air to it with a compressor. The wheels were around 50psi. I could hear the wheel valves open then close... except the passenger...
I got some replacement diaphragms for the wheel valves & a complete rebuilt wheel valve. Still the same issue!
As suggested, I tried setting the truck to XC but still, the same issue. I did go to the wheel valve on the tire that was leaking & was able to manually push it closed by using an...
So, I have been battling with my CTIS! Have a gremlin in there. Been getting some help from the Facebook group but wanted to post it here as well so others that are having problems may be able to read through my process to help themselves too.
So, I got myself a new controller. Old one had...
After troubleshooting, let us know what you found! Even with the surging, you should still see voltage. Worst case is you have a good Yanmar L48AE & a frame. I've been waiting to get a spare Yanmar to make a diesel mini bike with. :)
Success!
After a few days of heat & ATF, I got it loose enough & used the governor fork to move it where it needed to be.
With the top cap that goes to the injector removed, I kept putting heat directly in there for 1 minuet or so, then ATF. You'd see the ATF bubble & seep in until it was...
I did take the top off & put it in there. Going to let that soak in & do it again after work with some added heat as well.
Will be sure to pay attention to the timing marks, thanks for that tip!
That's the problem... I can't get it out because of the position that the parts are in. The bolts are all out & I can spin the injection pump around but no way to get it out because of the way the hole is made in the engine block.
I tried to get some ATF on it all to see if it helps loosen it...
Thank you! Great information & a good video.
I still need to find a way to get it removed before I can service it though. 😔
Wonder if I can disassemble it while still installed to get it free & just be extremely careful to not have the pin part slide out.....
Everyone,
I am currently trying to get a MEP-016B generator running. I confirmed I am not getting fuel on the high pressure side of the injection pump due to it being jammed. I want to remove it but it was left in the "off" position so that is where it's stuck.
In the workshop TM...
I used it this past weekend out at my off-grid place for a few hours. Mild this time of year so no need for 24/7 power.
It will start my A/C units fine & run my kitchen setup. Will also run my heat on the low setting. Not all at once but it does the job!
Will be a good backup for going out...
Got to use it for a few hours with the power issues here in Texas.
This thing doesn't like the below freezing temperatures! The battery I put on it is much smaller than what is recommended & will be okay 95% of the time where I am.
Warmed it up a bit & it fired up. Gave it a few minuets then...
