Not sure where you are coming from with this to be honest. I had my LMTV all over Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, etc when I was living in Redmond, and no cop ever cared. In fact no cop has ever cared about it anywhere, parked, moving, or broken down. Except one time I ever had a cop interaction was...
Could be a lot of things. The dreaded crack in the timing whatever cover, maybe just the oil pan gasket, I don't know. The way I look at it it's either going to be something simple (and therefore cheap) or something complicated (and therefore I don't have a place to do the work), hence, I think...
I'd love to but unfortunately down here in AZ I don't have a place to work on the truck, so it's going to have to go into a mechanic. I may take a run at the wiring myself though re: the start issue, since I know shops seem to hate doing that kind of thing.
So back in WA before I left I ran the truck around for a couple hundred miles, around Bellingham and down to Seattle and back and everything was great. Loaded up and headed out Friday morning for Phoenix.
Problem #1: Made it until somewhere in OR and the truck was leaking oil. All over the...
My buzzer vanished this one time and some of my warning lights on the dash were acting weird. Turns out one of the connectors had pulled loose - the buzzer runs through the panel. Re-seated and all problems solved.
Well FINALLY picked the truck up and it's running strong, took it around Bellingham, WA today. Going to get it cleaned up, get a load of cargo, and it'll be back down to Phoenix this weekend. Fingers crossed...
Gov can't win. They sell at low prices and people cry about the waste of taxpayer dollars. They change to use modern business practices to wring the most out of the market and get the most people will pay, we complain that we're not getting bargains anymore. Have to remember the original point...
This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone but PMCS is really key. That's my take-away. If I had taken the time to go over the truck more thoroughly there's a chance I would have caught the problem - I had in the past, maybe twice in 25,000 miles. I guess cars kind of spoil a person in a way...
That's going to be a bit of a trick. I'm going through a similar problem right now. So while the PRC-138 was originally designed as a manpack radio, Harris did make a variety of accessories for it, including outboard amplifiers to facilitate a variety of vehicle, ground, shipborne, and fixed...
So just an update on this. What a long crazy road it's been. With some distractions like buying a business and lining up a replacement engine, the truck is up at Zender's Diesel in Bellingham WA right now getting the new engine in. The old one's out on the ground, and they are thinking this week...
I was the one who brought the fluid up originally. Mil H 23282 (better) or 5606 (worse). The real problem seems to be that moisture gets into the system via the vent on the pump. A solution to that would be to rig up some kind of desiccant pack on the breather to prevent the humidity from...
mic pads (attenuators) are widely available and cheap to DIY. For that mater all you really need is an audio-grade log pot inline. But you still have the PTT problem. It is a cool toy though. Be neat if you play video games, you know, sit there and scream on vent with your military headset.
People link to them and then they rot out in a couple of weeks and nobody who finds the post months or years later can see what they were talking about.
OP - The GD UAA you bought is not intended to interface with radios. It's intended to interface headsets with PCs for operations stationed at...
I agree the manual is wrong, but I chose to believe what they meant is that if you deflate the bags, then pin the cab, or the cab flopping around will damage the bags. I leave mine on all the time, any terrain.
Not American, UK, but widely available is the Clansman (PRC-320). Notably it does AM which is lacking in many of the US units which were SSB and CW only.
Will be, strictly speaking, illegal to operate a military radio on CB because the individual radio has not been type-accepted by the FCC for...
