olive-drab.com lists it as "16,699 lb". Where did you get the 17k number? Also I should have said, I am talking about the A0. I don't know about the later models.
For whatever it's worth, mine scales out at about 16,800. I can't remember if that's with or without the cargo cover on. I don't have a winch. With me in it.
heh, what outriggers? this is the portable crane. The box he is talking about is on a NATO power pigtail that plugs into the NATO slave on the side of the truck. It's basically a fuse box with an amphenol for a very expensive looking cable that runs to the crane when you want to use it.
I don't mean to bash the aircraft intercom idea, it's a good idea, I started that way years ago with Sigtronics, but there are some things to consider. The aircraft systems are generally VOX for the intercom and PTT for the radio, because this is how we do it when we fly. This works well as long...
jbulach - neither leather or cordua is intrinsically waterproof, despite the adage about cows being waterproof, both require treatments. Treated cordura is waterproof at everyday static pressures, like if you made a bag out of it and filled it, it would work like a canteen. Not all cordura is...
Here is my AB/1386 kind of for reference. It's been suggested I mount this either to a trailer or a vehicle - there were brackets for that to put it on a HMMWV and think I have seen it on the side of a S-280 also. Either way, just a bit short (33' total) and marginal weight-wise for a beam...
I've seen some of those masts come up - often from civilian satellite trucks, WilBurt seemed to make a lot of them - but they are all too short for what I am looking for. I like the concept a lot though. My understanding is they did make tall ones - 40+ feet - but I've never seen one come up for...
I didn't have the impression the light trailer masts went up very high, but I see in the thread it mentions 37 feet... That's a little less than I had in mind but is serviceable...
-edit easier/cheaper to acquire hens teeth apparently.
I haven't looked closely at mine in while, but IIRC the handle isn't that permanently attached, the ratchet is sitting on splines and snap ringed on. Something like that. So something that would fit the splines on the drive and go in a drill should work. The crane looks to me a lot like you'd...
Why the attitude man? It wasn't clear from his picture how it interfaced with the bracket, all I can see are two green things. All you had to say was "metal tabs go in the bracket".
If you read his message carefully, I think he was saying that their binders were different (and larger) than you have pictured, and would not have fit in the bag...
