For ease of supply, I'd like all wheels/tires to be the same. Also, I'd prefer to use the wheels that I have, unless I can move to beadlockers for not that much more money, but I have a suspicion that beadlockers for 22.5 or 24.5 are gonna be $$$$
G177 is too much of a road tire for me. Yes, I...
Marquee is not ultra flat, and seems to scuff easier. I've had zero issues with 180-220 grit over everything, then spraying 4300. No adhesion promoter or anything.
The ONLY spot on any of my trucks that is flaking, is the door sill, which is a high wear area since I'm constantly stepping on it...
Gonna be used as a 'daily', however mostly dispersed camping (tiny home on wheels).
I expect to camp somewhere for a week or two then drive 100-300 miles and repeat the process. Could be as little as 20 miles or as far as 2K miles... just whatever suits my fancy. I just want to clarify this is...
Most are rated per pair. Commercial jack stands are rated ea.
Here's what I have for my deuce. They should work with the 5 ton as well. 12K lbs ea

Invest in an air/hydraulic jack if you don't have one. Make sure you have a glad hand adapter. If you don't have the money for a Milwaukee (or your preferred brand) high torque battery powered impact, get a high torque air impact that'll run off the same air line.
Work smarter, not harder.

Liquid goes in the tank. Use air compressor to pressurize it (I do 120 PSI), then dispense until empty, or needs more air.
I use arguably the smallest air compressor in the world with it... has a 2 gallon reserve tank, and it's enough to fully charge the...
Or is it a 9mm vs .45 situation?
Got the 10wt camp that says 'look at the LO'
Got the 15w40 camp that says 'Whatever works'
Got the Dex3 camp that says 'It's the best choice for the price'
Got the Transynd camp saying 'This is what Allison says to use'
10wt camp says 'it's mil spec'...
All done. Buttoned back up.... only thing left is to wait until trans filter gets here... then do trans fluid.
If you don't have one of these air driven dispensers..... get one!
All 3 5 gal buckets are gone.... and the dispenser is about 3/4 full... after refilling 3x...
Front axle similar to center axle.
Other darker tinted gray fluid, nothing out of the ordinary.
I think I picked up at least 20 new mosquito bites, though.
transfer case next instead of front diff.... it was closer... 🤣
Dark Grey almost black... not a lot of sludge on drain magnet but enough that I needed to wipe it off.
I think it's safe to say this truck had nearly no maintenance by the FD that owned it.
No wonder they got rid of it...
Center axle more of the same but definitely darker fluid, and more material on plug. Also different style drain plug.
These things sure do take a while to drain.
I hope I'll have enough time to tackle the transfer case...
Tackling the diffs today.
Rear was mostly amber with a hint of Grey, indicates water intrusion, and given the fact it was a brush/rescue truck for a beach, that's entirely expected. It did appear slightly underfilled.
Very minor sludge on the magnet, almost imperceptible... which... for 30k...
Took it out for a road test.
Brakes seemed to be binding for the first couple hundred feet or so then released. I braked when approaching a gate, let off the brakes, and it released, but then seemed like it wanted to grab and I had to hit the throttle otherwise I would be coming to a stop...
Rain came and washed everything away.
Got oil back in it, super easy now that the oil change is exactly 5 gallons.
Started it up, no hesitation, seemed quieter. Full synthetic 15w40.
Next step will be a grab handle, and investigate some 395s to replace the aging 1400s.
Oh boy, today has been fun.
Ordered the 'long' oil filter, because extra filtration is better, right? Not when it's too long to fit where it needs to go. There's $60 down the drain ( I ordered 2, non-returnable)....and on top of that, while I can order the right filter for $35, it won't be here...
