It wasn't a lot of effort to install. The brackets are nifty; the passenger side uses the air filter housing bolts in the firewall and one has to drill four holes into the top of the hood to attach the other end of the gas struts. I can take pics if it helps somebody out. I have had it for a few...
The technical term is "Super Rope" and it is 5/16 EPDM. 3/8 will work as well. If you can get it locally from a trailer or tarp supply it would likely be more cost efficient, methinks. You need about 50ft to do the whole truck. A bit more if you need to do a soft top, too.
Otherwise, the usual...
Good that you found that!! No, I am not aware that they were "lined" (although anything is possible). I recall them being painted with a reddish coloured primer. You definitely want that stuff out of there because random blockages of random air orifices are not fun. Probably disconnect the air...

I run 11.00R20 and in a right turn with a lot of pressure on the tire (i.e. offroad) I "can" get it to rub on the castle...
@msgjd Yes, and while we are all rightfully concerned about our 13,000-26,000 lbs rig's stopping power so we do not hit and crush lesser vehicles around us, let's not forget that our M35 compared to an 80,000-100,000 lbs transport or triaxle/lowboy combo is exactly such a small vehicle...
I, too put DOT reflective striping on the tail gate (accentuating the top corners, essentially, and the truck had these from the military. I also added triple marker lights and an amber LED convoy strobe, just so I am able to crank up my being seen score. If needed, I can switch them all off and...
They had bigger testicles back then. I bet the tow vehicle has around 200 hp and drags that load up any significant hill at walk-beside-it speed.
Loading these trucks looks like a fun activity.

I also used cheap LED head lights and made an adapter because I despise hacking into original wiring. I used a H4 female plug with pig tail to which I simply added Packard connectors. LED lamp plugs into H4 connecor, Packards plug into truck wire connections.
The wire numbers given above are...
I have a love-hate relationship with oil pan heaters. All I am saying is, be careful with them on a truck that seeps oil or fuel and the stuff runs down the engine block. I have seen a few of them light up pretty good with the 115V magnetic oil pan heaters. I am not certain the pad ones that...
Did you get the tank, too? That would make the truck very useful as a fire rig for the camp/cottage/remote homestead or be a wanted item for some volunteer departments that have a truck with a 12 or better 14 ft bed. A Deuce is ok for two 600 USG tanks or a single, suitably baffled 1200 USG...
@G744 Thank you!
The LDS could turn 2800 rpm but I deliberately left the governor set to how a motor pool SGT that apparently thinks similar to how I do, had it set . 2450 rpm. 2800 rpm is the max. rated rpm for the LDS, but with the OD and tall tires, the resulting top speed is well beyond...
I have the 5th gear overdrive , an LDS, power steering and 11.00R20 tires. The governor is set to 2450 rpm and that is 100 km/h (63mph) on the nose. I get her up to that speed once in a while, when everything is nicely warmed up.
No way would I "cruise" at that speed.
The truck could - but...
